Oil on my sparkplugs

I went to check the sparkplugs in my 91 accord today, and when I pulled the boot off cylinder 1 I noticed it had oil on it.

I checked Cylinder 2 and it was swimming in oil. The other two were oily as well. The undersides of the plugs looked pretty good. They were not distorted ot oil-fouled. The oil is coming from above.

This has me concerned. I am hoping it is the cam cover gasket, since it seems somewhat unlikely the head is cracked at all four cylinders.

Thanks in advance for any insight.

well you might wanna replace your valve cover gasket, thats only like 30$ if you do it yourself. its not hard at all, replace your sparkplugs or clean them really good (check for gapping and carbon deposits) if the spark plugs are bad it will make your car sputter (vibrate like crazy when you hit the gas). if that doesn't fix it, check the valve cover itself for cracks around the spark plugs, if it cracked enough it will cause oil to leak down in there and make the nasty mess you are having right now. hope that helps

That's what I thought. While I'm in there I may as well check my valve clearance, seems like she's ticking just a teence too much.

You can check valve clearances, but you need to have the feelers. You will need one for intake and one for exhaust.

I think you can find valve clearance spec underneath of the hood on of labels.
