I know this has been talked about somewhere, but my search yielded nothing. I have a 91 talon, the ESI, it does not have any special sound system from the factory. I blew out the rear speakers, and i need to know the size of them to replace them.

6x9, be careful, aftermarket speakers' magnets are bigger though! Itll take some modifying (LIKE MINE).

Are you sure, i'm not really good with audio, does 6X9 mean 6 diameter, width, or is it 6 inchs deep, or what? I have seen 6x9's and they are oval shaped, my rear speakers are circles, not oval at all.

6 wide, 9 long. Just search or go to a audio store and look for 6x9's itll be ok, if you need to know how to mod your mounting bracket in the car ill send you pics of my setup.

seriously, my rear speakers are circles, not ovals, so how can they be 6x9's The cover over the speaker is a 6X9, but the speaker itself is a circle.

However, a lot of 6 1/2" Speakers will not fit, as the whole is actually larger that 6 1/2". be prepared to make an "adapter deally-o. as well, many speakers come with them so you put the speaker in it and then it will be larger. but i have owned two 1994 dsms and both were 6 1/2's. most are from what i know.

is it true that you have to remove the rear moldings and stuff to get to the speakers in a 2g that the grat doesnt just come off?

yup you need to pull the whole side moldings. there are clips along the bottom of the corner windows, along the bottom in between the side and the seat bottom (pull the seat, it makes it much easier. it clips on the front edge) theres also some clips in the middle that you just have to pop loose carefully. it sucks but its not as bad as doing a radio in a 2g

that is what I like about the 1G, easy easy easy radio. As for the rear speakers, I have seen guys just pull off some of the clips and just bend the panel and work very carefully. Has worked for them, for the most part.

One guy cracked the panel right in the middle, about a foot and a half long...NOT RESOMMENED

depends on what season it is lol. you can do it by bending the panel in the summer when it hot and flexible but forget about it when its cold.

I did it by putting a rubber flathead(just happened to have one laying around, obviously other soft tools will work), and began slowly prying around the edge, until every clip was done. Took me very little time. I'm getting my new speakers tomorrow, we'll see how it all goes.
