Oversize Drain Plug !!!

I was trying to get an Oil Change done today at walmart for my 89 Supra ..I know thats not the best place but its Convenient anyway they said they couldn't do it cause i had an Oversize Oil Drain Plug...ahhhh...i bought the car used and sure didn't put that on their or do the Supras come that way and do i have to order a regular size Drain plug from the dealer to be able to have an Oil change done ???

Do not, I repeat, DO NOT ever take your car to walmart or anywhere else like it to have simple work done. It's almost a sure thing they will screw something up, strip something out, or just plain not put any oil in it (no joke I've seen it). :disappoin If they have a metric tool set they should have been able to remove it, but at walmart I believe there using duck tape and bubble gum to do most of the work so I can see the problem. All jokes aside change your own oil, do all basic maintanence yourself so you know what was done and when it was done. It will also give you a much greater sense of satisfaction after doing it yourself. For the transmission and rear end get some nice royal purple or redline fluids, for the engine any good brand will be fine in the right temp range. For coolant use Toyota's red fluid, great stuff.

I have heard such complaints about the Walmart in my area. One guy made it home only to discover that his drain plug was loose. He was nearly dry by the time he made it home. However to go so far as to do all my own oil changes. Nah. Collecting all that oil and driving it back to the autoparts store can be a pain. Especially when the store is 30 min away in the next town over (it goes double if your like me and have 4 cars...ok 3 and a half). Just take it to a place like Jiffy Lube or some other chain with a good rep and a quality gaurantee. I know that the added 2 bucks in cost vs doing it my self isn't worth the time under the car. From time to time I stand there and watch them just to make sure they do the job right.:nono:They are not as likely to cut corners when a customer is watching.

I’m starting a business to manufacture high quality oil drain plugs, and I’d like to sell a “fix it” kit with a tap and drain plug for repairing striped oil drain pans.

I’ve surfed the web, but I can’t find the actual dimensions for oversized oil plug threads. Is there a reference?

There is indeed, it's call you just revived a thread that is almost a year old. If you are truely going to try and sell such a product (that the average person isn't intelligent enough to even use by the way) you would hire someone who knows what they are doing and other small business specialists to find this critical information, advertising, sales, ect, ect.
