'92 525i - need help removing steering wheel lock ass'y

Hello all,

My steering lock on my '92 525i E34 Automatic had previously broke, and now I have the replacement steering wheel lock assembly. Bare with me, I have a Chilton's manual, and this thing is useless.

The ignition switch and tumbler is all out - the parts that broke inside.
It says to remove two shear off bolts on the top, which I just dremeled a slot into and backed the bolts out. The rest makes it sounds like it should just fall off now. Everything is apart, and it's loose, but it's not going anywhere.

If anyone has a step by step for this I'd appreciate it.

Greetings,

Sorry I don't have the answer to you steering wheel problem. But I was wondering if you could perhaps answer a question for a new member. I recently received a '92 525i and I do not know much about it. For example the heating in my bimmer seems to take forever to reach a comfortble temperture, I must run the blower at high in order to get warm. Is this normal?

Thanks,
Zelda

PS good luck with the steering wheel dilemma.

Not sure about your heater problem. Mine has the same problem though. I've only had my '92 since the summer and I'm in the south so I don't have to worry about the heater much anyways. I had some older Bimmers and althought I haven't looked at mine yet, usually the heater core is too blame. Try posting on roadfly.org. I post there the most, and is more help than this forum.
