Might be a stupid question: Bended rim repairable?

My sister bended 2 of her rims. Since I don't know what kind of rim it is I'm having hard time finding replacement. The person installed the rims no longer with us and I'm not too smart when it comes to cars...

So is it possible to have a shop fix those rims? Will it be cheaper than buying replacements?

Depending on the severity of the damage they are possible to fix, and cheaper than buying new ones. Just look around for a shop that repairs damaged rims.

Yes, there are a lot of shops that thrive off imports slamming into curbs and bending and chipping our rims. Usually rim shops that are located in more urban, low rent locations fix them for under the table cash prices. so go to the ghetto and throw 50 bucks at the guy and he should have you fixed right up :)

How about showing us a picture of the rims?

Yes there are wheel fix it shops around, but it depends on the wheel. WHen I bent all 4 of my wheels (stupid road construction) it cost me $100/rim to fix mine. I could have bought new ones for $125/rim.

Ya, please post a picture of the rims, if theyre cheap rims and small dents you definately should not be paying as much as civicsiracer. go to a ghetto rim shop and you wont get ripped off that bad.

building up rapport with any salesman and skipping on paying taxes is a good tip with the rim shop.

Thanks for all the replies! I'll take few pics tomorrow. It's dark and raining outside right now.... No, I'm not afraid of lighting.... :grinno:

Ghetto rim shops eh? Sounds good to me. Maybe I should find the most ghetto spot in town and see if I can get some "midnight special" :naughty:

Also depending on the bend on the wheel I've used a rubber mallet to get some dents out of my wheels. Not the best way but worked for me.

Moved the rims under sun light and notice that every rim were scratched up pretty good. I guess there's no point to fix the bended ones....

Thanks for the information tho. If something like this happen to me I'll know what to do.

I assume you are talking about the lip which is bent (bended?). These can be fixed for $100 or more, but the best option is a $20 brass hammer and a shop towel. It helps if you have a nice torch, just don't heat too long if they are aluminum as it tends to become discolored.
