wierd sound....

i have a 2000 eclipse gs and when i accelerate fast and the rpms get around 4k they begin to go up very slow and it practically pauses then i wierd like schreeching noice comes out and then it just shifts into the next gear....any ideas what might be wrong, or this just normal (sorry im new to eclipses)???

pop you hood and check to make sure the air intake is secured down to the front of the car.

wow your right....the two screw that are supposed to hold it down are gone....but when i tried to move it it didnt move too much.....would this cause it to do that....and im also getting new intake soon so should i even bother trying to fix it?

yes you should fix it. just go to autozone or one of those stores and buy something that will go in the hole. damn i forgot the name of that thing. like a grommet or something. somebody help me out. the reason that it seems like the car dies at high RPMS is b/c it runs out of air to run the engine
