97 metro running rough

Currently have a 1997 metro lsi 1.3 4 cylinder that is running really rough. It starts and drives but it cuts out and/or sputters during a certian spot in the accelartion. It is to the point now that it idles rough and it seems to possibly be getting worst. Any ideas because I would greatly appreciate it. It seems like it may not be getting enough gas or to little air but I am not sure. Thanks for your time.

Does it do it initially when you accelerate and then go away when you get going?

Generally it is during acceleration but now it is starting to sputter just when idleing along with acceleration.

Are you throwing any codes? We need more info...
