Anyone heard if the upcoming 170 hp 2.4L SS coupe will be available with a 5 speed manual? That would be a fun, relatively inexpensive ride.

2.4L SS???? um, unless youve heard something i havent, the Cobalt SS will have the supercharged 205hp 2.0L ecotec Inline 4, and yes, it will have a 5 speed manual.

I did some more reseach and what I found was the SS will have the 2.4 and SS supercharged will have the 2.0 S/C. The 2.4 SS will be released later this year and will have 170 hp. With a manual that would be some fun.

The 2.4 SS will be an auto only, the 2.0 SS/SC will be manual only.

D'oh! Does anybody know what the 2.4 will be? An updated ld9 possibly?

the new 2.4L is an ecotec. And shares nothing with the old quad 4s

The 2.4l is available now. Its 2.4l 170hp, and its not Supercharged. Its the same engine they are putting in the Pontiac Solstice. You can get the Cobalt SS1 with this engine, and a 5-speed, or the Auto.

You can get the 2.4L SS with either an automatic or standard(manual) transmission. It boasts 174hp and 163 ft/torque. It also comes as a coupe or a sedan.

yeah, i've seen 2 coupe and 2 sedns, the coupe juat have smaller rear spoilers and no 'supcharged' badge other than that. nowt else. Also have looked into the ecotec motors and they are a progression of the quad4s and LD-9s using pretty much the same engine architecture, even down to the IDI plate.
