Hi Folks!
Did you notice that Hiro brought out the Ferrari 500 F2?
To me, the scale is a big surprise! It's in 1/24 although it's a Formula 1 car. Usually, all Formula 1 cars are in 1/20 scale.
This gives me the hope that there is more to come! We have here the very rare highly detailed Lampredi 4-cylinder engine which has never existed before in a model. So, maybe we soon see some more 4-cylinder Ferraris: 500 Mondial, the 625 series, 750S or even the 860 Monza!
That would be the best! :grinyes: :grinyes:
Hiro, please do it!!!
But then, with the 250 series, they didn't go very far... No really new model like maybe a 250 GTE. :disappoin :disappoin :disappoin
Let's hope for it!

Actually Hasegawa produced a series of Formula 1 cars in 1/24 scale a few years ago and I believe there may have been others but you are correct in saying that these days F1 kits tend to be 1/20 scale.

They tend to be that way because when Tamiya first started releasing them, they decided that 1/24 suspension arms would be too brittle, and to make them strong enough would not be scaled correctly with the rest of the model.

1/20th has always been an odd scale, I welcome more 1/24th scale F1 kits. Not that I'm likely to be shelling out the kind of money MFH asks for their old Ferraris, whatever the scale.

Interesting. And here I thought it was because 1:24 Formula cars would be so tiny, modelers would feel cheated. Learns something every day.
