So I drop my mom off at the Saturn dealer so that she can pick her rolling tupperware up.......
I decide to cruise the used car lot on my way out(favourite pasttime of mine, you can tell I dig cars)
I see a Blue New Beetle..and being the inquisitive type.....I go to see if its a manual, and what engine it has(nothing is faster than a chipped 1.8T) so i hop outta my trusty SE-R and take a peek.....instantly a salesman materializes(woohoo:rolleyes: ).......thinking he can impress the cute little girl checking out the cute little girl car into a sale, he begins yammering on about this strange thing by the steering wheel(as Im attempting to find out what engine the car has) he yanks the door open grabs the mysterious 'thing' shoves it in my face asking the whole while'You know what it is? huh? huh?' calmly I nod....'its a bud vase'...he stands shocked as I continue to ask if its a 1.8T or the turbo diesel(Im more interested in the transmission and engine than the amenities, probably woulda shown me the drivers side vanity mirrors too!) then he shuts up and I explain that I OWN an old beetle, etc, etc....
he asks how many miles are on my Beetle...I say what does it matter its a drag car.....his poor little mouth fell open 'you're a racer?' was the question.... I point to the SCCA stickers gracing the rear windows of my SE-R....'why, yes I am'....his comment: 'you can't be a racer, you're too pretty'
this is where I retreat to my SE-R with a grin and a nod and take off
now I ask: why can't I be a racer? is there a law stating that a cute chick cant race cars? and do it well? just cause I dress nice, wear makeup and present myself in a fashionable way makes me ill equipped to comprehend the mechanics of driving well?? not all car girls like to convey themselves as rough and tumble tomboys:no offense to those that do, I still get dirty when Im working on my fleet, but when I go out into public...I am a Lady, and I will make myself up and dress myself in such a way...but please don't treat me like a dummy just because I do!!

Yeah, I hear ya on that! Granted, your car knowledge is even greater than my own, but when I went to this auto parts place to pick up my new clutch kit, the attendents all were shocked that I knew how to spell "clutch" let alone drive using one! :p
If you all want to hear how "well" my new clutch install went, you can read up on it here (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?s=&postid=340633&t=3657#post340633) . I can't say that it's a fun story, but it just goes to show you what you get for buying used cars and then learning to love driving...

Hehe, that’s awesome! I love it when car sales people think you know absolutely nothing about cars and then you just make them speechless when you start talking. :hehehe:
When I bought my FTO we went to this dealer and he said what are you looking for and I said an FTO in either silver or black. He said “oh what a shame! We had a red one that you would have loved, but it’s just been sold. You can come and have a look at it if you want.” I thought I’d go and have a look because this was going to be VERY amusing. We get in there and I looked at it and said well, first of all it’s a GR and I want a GPX. Secondly it’s red and I don’t want red, as I said before I want a silver or a black one. I then went on to explain the differences between the GR and the GPX and the look on his face was totally priceless. I had the time of my life that day with that guy! :D :hehehe:

hahaha that would have been a classic VideoNasty, I wish I was there!
when i went test-driving Skylines, same thing! Every salesman looked straight at my b/f and ignored me. And even when I asked questions, they directed the answers towards my b/f! I had to state "actually I'M the one buying the car not him" and you should have seen then look on their faces. They got all flustered and tried to change their "selling technique" but it was too late by that stage.
My best friend is looking at buying a new car soon (not a performance car) and she wants me to go with her to test-drive a few different models.....I'm gonna have soooo much fun putting salesmen in their place. :D I'm evil hehe
