dsm TUNER!

Every time I go to the book store to read s.c.c, import tuner, modified and turbo magazine, I always see honda tuner, vw tuner, mustangs and fast fords on the racks. What they really need is a dsm magazine, i bet that would sell just about as good as those others.The main theme could be evo's, because evo's seem to be the theme of most of the magazines lately. It would just be nice to see some more articles about eclipses. I am an avid magazine reader and it sucks reading about cars i dont have and seeing parts for a car that i dont have. Is there some thing we can do...i know i myself could not do shit but there are a lot of mofos on the dsm A.F and other dsm forums. thats alot of ppl. Would a petition to import tuner be possible? I'm probably speaking out of my ass but thats something i would love to see happen.

i would buy a subscribtion. somebody try and find a email for somebody at import tuner and once this thread gets some more names email it to them.

if we would even have a chance, we would need Joe and Jake to talk with the AF heads, since they would most likely have a better chance of reaching import tuner than just a kid from the message board

There's a reason there are no DSM magazines. DSMs are no longer made, and so old that just about every piece of knowledge out there is on the internet. The only reason there's honda magazines is because honda has like 8 different cars, with new ideas and new models coming out all the time. Therefore, lots of this new information is made available through magazines. There is nothing really new about DSMs, so a magazine would be pointless, really. It's a neat idea, but it just isn't plausible.

Joemathews and I were talking about this exact same thing when I was looking for a magazine to take on the plane with me. We were also talking about DSM calanders. I know some people that would be willing to make some if people were interested but it might cost $5-10 or something, maybe if I get enough interest I will make a new thread with a poll so we can decide what cars to use!

Probably because there is a shitload of different domestic muscle cars from many different years, and not mention all of the different motors and setups possible with them. Think about it, we're wanting a magazine for ONE car (albeit the different names) with only three motors (and the 4g63 being the only real powerplant). How many different magazine articles could possibly be made.... EACH MONTH?

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to have a magazine just for DSMs. However, it just isn't something that would make it in reality.

Now a magazine that contained ALL mitsu's (including alliances with Dodge/Chrysler) is much more realistic than a DSM only mag.

every mitsubishi car that you can mod theres just about the same as honda and more the vw sooo.....like lancer evo eclipse 3000gt

i would saw the talon digest was the closest thing to a magizine for DSMs. but i do think a magizne would only last for acouple years ,it would just simply run out of things to talk about ,on the fact that they dont make DSMs any longer...the reason mags like honda tuning and vw tuning have made it so long is because there are constantly new cars comming out ,and such a broad area to cover with all the different kinds of hondas. i also hate to say it but hondas are more popular than DSMs, that factor helps to sell magizines alot....i do see a chance in a mag if the new eclipses are somting worth tuning or have something appealing to the DSM public or any public for that matter....i would definatly help out with a DSM calander , but somthing thats might also be worth looking into is a mag for 4G63s . "4G63 Tuning" whith the evos and older eclipses this would be a great magizine....

yeah of course but for a big company like import tuner to have that those couple of years of it would be HOT! for them that might spark new ideas for mitsubishi , part makers and alot of other things

i know a guy who writes and publishes a porshe and benz mag. he might be interested in publishing one for us. i'll be able to talk to him next week if you want me to. we can get him to do it with DSM, 3000gt/stealth stuff in the mag as well

That sounds rad. If we can get a magazine going...simply WOW! A Calander or anything! There was another thread to about decals for AF DSMers as well. I think we could all go hardcore on this, it could turn out to be amazing!

I'm totally for everything that's come up so far about the Mitsus. We still need to do something about the AF DSM decal though! Anyways, the idea of a strictly DSM magazine wouldn't last too long because for one thing, the people that would really read it and get into it hardcore probably know mostly everything in the magazine already and second, they would just plain run out of things to write about. What I think a cool idea would be is to have a strictly "Mitsubishi" section in Import Tuner or something like that each month. They could have a section (a page or two, maybe three) dedicated to "dsm, 4g63, eclipses, talons, 3000gts, stealths" or whatever you can come up with, but I would definitley enjoy reading a magazine (or a monthly article) about the "DSM" world.

i'm just sayin a small magazine would kbe fine. feature articles on different peoples cars from af.com and other place's that have put some time into thier cars as well as maybe publishing classifieds in the back, exterior/interior/engine mod how to's and parts for sale, articles from or have jake/kevin do vfaq stuff (like how to rebuild a turbo), tools that are useful, etc.

i'd be up for a DSM calander. Just advertise a photo contest and have people sumbit a photo. make a min resolution so we'd have good picture quality at a large size.

on the back you could put a bunch of nice DSM websites and their logos. i'm sure dejon tool, or dsmtuners wouldn't mind their logo advertising them on the back of a calender.

I bet you could charge $20 for it if it was good quality.


Also we NEED an automotiveforms.com DSM decal. I'd want a white one to put on my back windshield.

input on the content of the magazine tho . i was thinking something along the lines of having mitsu/chrysler/dodge thing, so we would have stuff on the talon's, lasers, eclipses, 3k gt's, and stealth's.

That's a pretty good idea. I would buy or watch a show on how to's for our cars. But i thought SPEED already has a show with those guys and the VW golfs and they had the twins turbos show too.

He's like "You should start some TV show about how to install certain things, do motor swaps, tuning, and some other stuff that has to do with our cars". I agree it would be cool but not enough people would watch it, we would have to inclued hondas and all the other rice mobiles out there! I'd be willing to make a DVD with all sorts of chapters, like...

6 bolt swap
1st gen head swap
turbo swap
changing a clutch (AWD & FWD)
changing headgasket
changing timing belt
changing valves/springs/retainers and valve seals
rebuilding the bottom end (rings, rod & main bearings)
FMIC install
Changing out intercooler piping
Exhaust swap
MBC & EBC install

Pretty much anything anyone is interested in doing could be on one DVD.

for the mag i would include 1g, 2g, and 3g eclipse/talons/lasers, 3kgt/stealths, evo's, and galants since they are also 4g63 powered and had a pretty good autocross following. im not sure how much audience they still have though.

that would be awesome to do. you need the tranny swap an tranny rebuilds in there to jake. lol. then put some extras of races and stuff on there. i think it wiuld sell extremely well. just in our forum to i'm sure you could easily make a profit.

and instead of a magazine, what about a af.com DSM news letter that gets sent out like bi-weekly or monthly.

that would really rock to have a dsm tuner magazine, but comparing it to hondas there is liek 40 hondas for every dsm so I dooubt the magazine would get made. I would be mopre than willing to help get facts from chicago are dsmers to help out the magazine though!

here in chicago we got a chi-dsm calendar already. what tv show are you speakign of he would make?

The only tranny swap you could do is FWD to AWD or AWD to FWD and its not really worth making a show for it, plus if I did, I would need another spyder cause there is no way in hell I am pulling mine back apart again until I break something. Just to much fuckin work and I would have to charge to much to cover the costs of all the parts...

Tranny rebuilds are another thing I would not put in there just because it is not easy unless you know what every part is and what it does. If I were to explain everything and do that it would probably take up the whole DVD right there and its just not worth it! You need a couple specialty tools for it that not many people would want to buy or have if they were just looking to rebuild their tranny once.

ok well not a TV show cost to much, but how-to video that would be good. let someone walk you thought everything and you can here how they do it, not read how they do it. you will see if what they did worked. start a little ser of dvd's and sell them. every one that has work to do tape it and send it in. i think this could work. i did auto inter, and alot of it i learned from a video tape. so what do you think?

i could make a video! im good at editing cutting and filming. soon to be getting a g5 mac every thing i will need to do so. as for the mag it will be cool to do it will all my friends and the help of you guys. i would need to take out a fat loan i could probably make my money back from it, or make a petition to import tuner

Hey, rather than a whole magazine, which would be pretty damn hard to do I would think, why not just focus on having more articles and attention on DSMs? All the things you guys are talking about like emailing them or petitioning them or having some mods talk to them, might actually make them focus on DSMs a bit more. I would be cool with that at least.
