I started this about two weeks ago. It's the Revell L-88 kit, but I wanted to something different with it. So after looking throught some Scale Auto mags I got the idea to build it as a base model Corvette with a 300 hp 327 engine and not the 560 hp 427 engine that comes with the kit.

I finnaly got the last coat of paint on the body today. It's painted Tamiya Black stright from the can, no clear coat.

I realy think it came out nice, Very deep gloss and almost no orange peel. Going to wait a week and the polish it.

The engine is from a AMT '70 Camaro with manifolds from a Revell '64 Impala.

Nice so far! Black is a good color for this car as it highlighs the curves on the body.
p.s. Ser att du läser rätt litteratur vid modellbyggandet :) d.s.

Gorgeous paintwork! What color are you planning on painting the interior/top? Call me crazy, but it would look sharp in white , just like it is now...

Thanks for all the comments!
Amazon: Skulle det finnas något annat att läsa?
cooltc2004: Well I have never seen a '68 Corvette with a big block engine in real life. And most people build this kit with the big block L-88, so why not some thing different. And I also think it adds some thing interesting to the model, it makes it stand out from the crowd. Just like the rare big block cars does in real life.
Merkava: The top will be white, they only had three options in '68, black white and tan. I don't like the look of the tan top and too much black is just boring. The interior will be red, at first I wanted to do it white/black. With white seats and doors and the rest black, but Chevrolet never offered that in 1968. And a red interior realy stands out from the black body and it's more interesting to look at then a black one.

how'd you prep the body for paint, as I don't get nearly as good results with the spray cans?
(primer sanding etc..?)

Very nice progress. The paint looks excellent, especially considering it was delivered with an aerosol nozzle.

Yikes an engine from a 70' camaro o_O you're depriving the corvette of it's well deserved HP.

Progress has been slow on this one for the last month. But after I got the PE set a week ago it's realy starting to look like some thing.
http://hififorum.knaak.dk/jonmw/DSCN3349.JPG
The chassis is complete, just need to glue the exhaust on.
http://hififorum.knaak.dk/jonmw/DSCN3350.JPG
The interior still needs some datils and some PE parts. I hope to have it ready in the next two days.
http://hififorum.knaak.dk/jonmw/DSCN3351.JPG
The engine still needs a lot of work. All the wires and fule lines and some other details.
http://hififorum.knaak.dk/jonmw/DSCN3352.JPG
I hope to have it ready for IPMS Stockholm in just over a weeks.

"so far so good" someone said..
I think we modelers work best with a little "showtime-stress", right? Nothing speeds up your building more than realising that you have to get going NOW if it`s to get finished for the show?
