Purge selinoid

Where is the purge selinoid sensor thing located on my 1996 Blazer 4x4 with the 4.3 vortec motor?

My engine light is on. I think code is p0414 (something like that) but it is in reference to either: 1. bad gas cap, 2. purge sensor selinoid, or 3. another type of sensor.

I have a Haynes manual, but can't locate the purge selnoid sensor in it.

Thanks in advance,

Code P0441 no flow during purge cycle? The Purge Solenoid is part of the EVAP system. Go to page 6-14 of your haynes manual.

The most common reason for the evap code is a loose gas cap. If that caused it, it may take a while for the computer to turn the light off by itself depending on the driving you do.

The purge solenoid is on the intake manifold on the passenger side near the ignition coil.

I have already replaced the gas cap and had the pcm reset by AutoZone, but the code returned. I purchased the purge solenoid from AutoZone and did see the location of what seemed to be the purge solenoid. But what seemed confusing by the AutoZone tech and myself was that the location of the solenoid appeared to be "upside down.

Are there 2 or is there only 1 vacuum line(s)?

My Blazer was manufactured, 3/96, therefore is it consider a 1995 or 1996 model? Is there any difference in the purge solenoids of the two different years?

Last question. The solenoid appears to be on a backet/plate, do I remove the entire plate or better yet - how do I replace the solenoid?

Really, last question: Whether there is 1 or two vaccum lines connecting to the purge solenoid - where is/are the other end(s) of the lines connected to.

Thanks very, very much

Your Blazer is a 1996. If you look under the hood, the Emissions sticker will say that it meets 1996 standards. According to AC Delco, 95 and 96 are two different solenoids.

If there is a bracket over the Purge Solenoid bolts, that bracket will have to be removed first.

The Purge Solenoid is feed vacuum directly through the mount on the intake manifold. The other end goes to the Evap Canister in the Left Rear Fender. This has two other lines. One goes to the Vent Solenoid. the other goes to the Fuel Tank.

Its a little confusing but on my 1996 2dr Blazer this is the valve on the intake manifold which applies vacuum to test the EVAP system

And this is the valve located at the top front part of the gas tank which vents the charcoal canister to atmosphere.
