I have a 94 park ave ultra and I am tryin to replace the crankshaft sensor and I can't get the pulley off. I have the main bolt off but I can not pull the pulley off. I tried some harmonic pulley balancer puller but that did not get the thing off. It was some 15 dollar ampro tool from discount auto parts but everytime i keep tightening the main bolt in the center the other three pop out. It's like it doesn't fit or something and I understand there is a puller ( J 38197 Crankshaft pulley puller ) made for the 3800 series but that tool is like 200 bucks, it would be cheaper for me to give it to a mechanic for that price. Please there has to be some of sort of trick to this. Any help to get this bastard off would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Nick

Ok, if it is like most harmonic balancers, what you do is take out the big center holding bolt and its washer, then you put the bolt back in by hand (without the washer) maybe lets say a good 2 full turns, and then use your puller. Let the puller go against the big bolt head, and it will pop it off. Once it is free, then take off your puller, unscrew the big bolt, and then the harmonic balancer will come off by hand. Hope this helps.

If you are in doubt, ask a certified technician. I think he will agree.

With the center bolt off it should pop off... the balancer you need a puller for.

if the three smaller bolts keep popping out, youre using the wrong bolts. I think they are metric.

I removed a vibration damper today from a 94 PA and the damper had 3 slots for the pulling bolts. Obviously, there were no threaded holes for regular puller bolts. I got 3 longer bolts and nuts and I cut the heads off the bolts and then in a vise bent the bolts shafts 90 degrees. These bent ends were inserted thru the slots and then I ran the nuts down against the puller body to where all 3 cut bolts were snug. Then I used the main big puller bolt against the crankshaft to remove the damper. A word of caution....make certain the bent bolts run with the slots and immediately on the back side of the slots, do not go deep behind the slots as there is material that can be damaged on the backside of the damper. :)
