Struts for 88 CRX SI

I've noticed lately that the ride in the car has been getting worse when hitting small cracks/holes in the road. (loud bang/klunk in the back) I checked all the trailing arm bolts, sway bar links, etc. Everything is tight and looks fine. So I guess it's time to replace the struts all the way around. Anyone have any suggestions? I don't plan on lowering the car. I just want something with a decent ride and a little bit of performance. Right now I'm on stock rims, but I do plan on getting some 205/40/16 if that plays a factor in what struts to get. Thanks for the info in advance.

KYB GR2's are a great, and cheap upgrade. $160 shipped for all four shocks from www.performancepartsstore.com

KYB are great at the price.
Tokico blues are ok. Seem to blow easy...
Bilstiens are very good too.
Koni are the best for handling but are a bit rough on the ride. I have Koni and love them, tho...Just a bit expensive.

Make sure that you order for the 88 though!
The rear lower mounts are different then any other Civic/CRX. The bonus is sometimes you can get a real deal. I got my full Koni yellow setup for $200 shipped off eBay, new, as nobody else bid...

I have 205/40/16 and they are so so.
The ride is very harsh, but they handle great!
You will feel every crack in the road and have to slow way down for big pot holes or RR tracks or you could blow tires or bend rims. If I did it over again I would get 205/50/15. I might get some 205/45/16 next time to see if there is a difference. Dunno if they fit tho.

I've noticed alot of things seem to be different with the 88 CRX's. Seat Pans, Suspension, gauges. You know where I can pick up some white face gauges? I bought some off e-bay real cheap, and they don't fit. About 1-2mm off along with all the numbers. But the dude swears it's for a 88 CRX. ehh.
Yea I know about the ride on the 205/40's my buddy had a 240SX with the same tires. I might go with 15's for that reason. I just saw a deal on the 16's but when I called they were out.

So I'm guessing that 88 Civic Struts would work with the 88 CRX SI? Or is the typo on their web site 1998 CRX suppose to be 1988 CRX? Just thought I'd ask before I gave them a call to order.

Yeah, probably a typo. Ask for Jessica if you can. She has helped me out alot.
