Can I connect an Ipod to an X5 with a NAV system?

My 2005 X5 has an upgrade to a Navigation system and for some reason, in the process of doing so, I lose the MP3 adapter that would presumably allow me to hook up an Ipod (you also lose your CD player and get a cassette player instead -- who in the world listens to cassettes these days?!!). Is there some easy way an Ipod can be hooked up to the stereo system of the car? I've checked some web sites and while there are adapters available, they seem to be only for older model X5s, and then only if you don't have the navigation system. Any feedback is much appreciated!

Yes you can connect it via the aux, but you will only be able to control the volume not tracks etc.
I had the same quest and was a bit confused about it

Thanks for the info - it was really helpful. I think the best solution is to go with the Dension system, which allows the IPod to be treated as if it was the CD Changer (it plugs into the CD Changer slot). More details are available at:
