Heater blows slightly warm air

Have a 1987 park ave with electronic climate control. When it is cold ( 30 & colder) the air coming out of the heater is just slightly warm. If I have the engine running and the car in park the heat increases but when I start to driving the air cools down. I have checked both heater hoses and both are hot, changed the climate control unit, no change, changed thermostat, no change. When it is a litle warmer (40+) outside the heater appears to work fine. If anyone has a diagram of the vacuum system or the air flow duct system showing all the doors I would appreciate it. I would like to check out the vent door and the vacuum system but can not find any information on this. I am starting to think the outside vent door is not closing completely when I have the heater running

hey hows it goin?I live in Regina,Sask where we've been having -35c temps & my buick does the exact same thing!!I've pretty much done everything you've described & am stumped.If you happen to find the solution to this please post it.At the same time I'll still inves & will do likewise if I figure it out

it's me again.I found the owners man for this car, and it describes that if you have electronic climate control, your heat setting goes to 85 right?
well apparently if you keep depressing the heat button you can get it to it's max setting of 90.wow I've had this car for approx 4months & didn't know this,it's too cold out right now to run out & test this theory.tomm I'll check it out.If this fails to do what I hope(proper heat) I'm prepared to open up the vents by the bottom of the windshield & partially plug the so air can no longer get rammed through.They also make note in the manual about a"flow through ventilation system, that supplies a ram of outside air into the car".Isn't that great? :screwy:

With this unit the temp settng is whatever it was when I shut the engine off. A 1986 version resets itself to 75deg on every restart of the engine. The best luck I have ever had was when I disconected the vacuum control manifold. This gave me hot air but only the defroster door was active. That was a bummer because th esnow on the floor would not melt. I wish I could find where that ram of fresh air door is located. I believe that is the one that is hanging open and operpowering the heater core. Will post when I figure / find out the fix.

Will post when I figure / find out the fix.Well my theory on the temp setting to 90 didn't work.The ram-vent is located by the bottom of the windshield,underneath the wiper arms & plastic grille.The duct itself is pretty big(approx12"x4").I tried placing a piece of cardboard over top to see if I get descent heat,but it just got blown off & I don't have a heated space to work in long enough to properly seal it off.If you happen to get it to work be ready for the fact that your windows may fog-up up on you.I personally wouldn't mind because I would at least be able to have feeling in my fingers & toes while driving.
