Drag Generation III

Has anyone heard anything about this kit, the drag gen 3? Go here:

it's the turbo kit on the very bottom. Looks good, but $3000 is a lot to drop on a kit.

most all kits i have seen are around that price or more

Yeah I know a guy who has had the kit for 2 or 3 years now (not sure it's the gen 3 one). But it's a great kit. My friend already has a custom turbo setup and is going to buy some individual parts from them to change out. supercharger, nice price, but i've heard more bad than good come from the JR charger - plus there's less room to tune and you don't get the cool pshhh sound ^_^

with turbo kit, if you wanted to push the engine with more boost later (after building up internals and fuel management of course) you'll be able to turn it up, or buy a bigger turbo if the current one isn't powerful enough.

If they made some of the newer model superchargers for my car, i'd get one. With that power chip option or w/e i've seen in magazines and on tv.

you can boost alot with a supercharger, well as far as i know only with a centrifugal supercharger. I work with a guy pushing 18 psi with a vortech supercharger on a newer v6 eclipse. FAAAASSSTTTT!!!!! He said the way to get more boost is to put on a smaller pulley.

:1: All you have to do to up the psi on a supercharger is get a smaller pulley.

If you ask me it sounds just as good or better than a turbo.

The turbo would be your best bet. Superchargers are great and have a more level boost curve but they are alot less effiecent, even centrifical type. With a four cylinder motor that doesnt produce much torque to start with the supercharger is giong to take around 43% of that initial power away from your motor to power the supercharger Granded all of that power will be made back then some. With a turbo you can gain the same ammount of power with less boost because your not taking away from the power generated by the motor itself.

I've got the specs right here for a Jackson Racing Supercharger - for a D16A6

Stock HP - 95.9
Stock Tq - 91.6
S/C HP - 142.9
S/C Tq - 126.8

You could easily get that by going all motor imo. Turbo is better. By the way I'm guessing those ratings are hp/tq to the wheels, not the fly.

yeah...heck...you can put that $2000 from the SC and get an engine swap with more power, more reliability, and have some extra money left over to save for a turbo

True, you can get those numbers by going all motor. It all depends how much you want to spend and how long the car will be off line. You can get the SC installed in a day or two, with common tools, and get with nice reliable power.

What would be necessary to make the same power with an all motor d16a6?
I would wager it would take longer than a few days of work, more than common tools, and maybe more than est. $2500 ($1995 + shipping).

You will get more power with a turbo (no dyno results on the site though) but it costs more and you have to make more extensive mods. Check here (http://www.revhard.com/turbokit/efcivicturbokit.asp?year=88-91&model=Civic&engine=D) for an example.

eww, that turbo kit is yucky, you hafta take out your ac and everything :O

i think SC will be a better option for me :)
