i have basically stock everything. there is a metal cover over my headers and there is a hose connecting the cover to the air intake, whats that for? and could i take and leave it off? theres a pic in my gallery with me pointing to it.

It is a heat shield it attempts to keep the heat from the exhaust manifold from heating up the engine bay. You can remove it if you want but I would leave it in place.

so if i were to put a cold air intake in what would be the point of it cause aint the hose thats connected to that cover just sucking hot air into the air intake?

that looks more like the EGR valve (exhasut gas return valve) pipe. Does it screw into the exhaust manifold? the EGR valve sends back some of the exhaust gas back into the engine in order to burn up any gas that wasnt burn up in the original combustion. it's strictly meant for emissions purposes

the heat shield is just bolted onto the exhaust manifold. and the hose is connected to the heat shield by a little metal prong which connects the heat shield to the air intake. so to answer your question no it does not screw into a pipe..

in my gallery i have a few pics with me holding and pointing to where the hose connects, if i were to flip the heat shield over all you would see is the hole to where the hose connects, its not connected to anything else.

that's your TAC tube. When your car is warming up, it heats up the intake air using the heat from the exhaust manifold to improve fuel vaporization and mixture distribution.
If you take it off you'll probly never even notice it was gone.

^ ding ding thats correct. everyone else was way off

although removing it may cause driveablity problems in cold weather when the engine is cold.
