I have a '02 ITR for about a year now and it has finally reached 9k. Well, at around 7k miles, the annoying maintence light came on and I just want to know how to get rid of it without taking it to the dealership. I know I can take it to just about any other shop, but I just like to learn to do things myself. ;) And also, about the maintenance schedule for the Acuras...is it ideal to follow them or not? Anybody bought an Acura with a 70k mile warranty and was able to get free maintenance?

The Maintenance Req'd light will come on every 7,500 miles, regardless of if you need maintenance or not. It's just a simple timer (like an alarm clock) to harass you.
There's a button under the dash on the driver's side of the car that allows you to reset the Maint. Req'd light.
