Bumper Fitment

Alright guys, well i bought a buddy club front bumper from Vlad(from this forum) and i just got it today...

well tonight i had put the bumper lights in, and drilled the holes out for the bolts on the side...well i thought i would see how it fit just for the hell of it, and nothing lined up...there was about 1 1/2 gap on the sides and about 1 1/2 gap in front of the head lights...i dont know what to do...

Has anyone had any bad bumper fitments with the buddy club front? and does anyone have any ideas what i could do?

thanks!

hmm, is the bumper hitting your impact beam? My first bumper did and I had to cut the impact beam down on the sides so it'd fit. But my buddy club bumper fits fine on my 4dr.

when i bought the bumper, it specifically said civic civic hatchback. i even double checked with the seller dude to make sure it wasnt a crx front bumper and whatnot and he reassured me it was civic hb bumper. this really makes me mad though because this guy has such good ratings for fitment and then this happens. civic geek 133 sent me pictures of the bad fitment and there's a decent sized gap under the headlights and the ends of the bumper like dont reach the wheel arch. it seems like the support beam is in the way in the pictures but there isnt one behind the bumper.

i dont know man, i dont know what to do

i dont know if i can even work with it..the gaps are severe...i cant even get the bolts to even start to thread with out stressing the shit out of the fiberglass, even then they still wont thread in
i dont know..

i think that bumper is a crx bumper, it removes the front filler. dont most hatch bumpers use the front filler? but u could just get crx finders and corners and have the crx front end. i would do that!

post the pic of it on ur hatch

yo dj, put your corner lights in and see if they fit. if they dont then it means its a crx bumper. but i'm most certain its a hb bumper

atleast i think i'm right about the corner lights thing, i think the crx corner lights are a little longer

ah i dont know if i want to go threw all that trouble...

if i cant find a red pas. and a driv. CRX fenders for a hella low price i may consider that, but right now i dunno

i think the whole bumper will fit well if you could make the front tabs that go above the rad to go farther in somehow because that kinda looks like what's messing up the rest of the fitment

the whole thing is just straight up whacked up, i dont even think that could do it

i would have to literally fiberglass everything all over just to get it to fit right

Hey, vlad, where did you get the bumper from? What company?

vladlos

i got it from some ebay company. it wasnt cheap either. i got it for 180. the guy had a high rating and positive feedback for fitment.

The fenders aren't the problem, the whole thing it self fits like shit

if its for a crx it wont even come close to fiting with the civic fenders on the car if u take off the fenders and it fits and looks right thrn u need crx fenders and coner lights

if it was for a crx......wouldnt the part that goes under the fender by the corner light start overlapping the fender?

bambam89lx

it's not for a crx....I'm 100% sure of this. Its for the hatch...just got a bad bumper i guess.
You can tell it's for a hatch by the way it bolts up in the center.
CRX bumpers dont bult up in the center like that...they bolt to the reinforcement bar.

does anyone know how i cant make it fit?

Any tips one what i could do?

Would heat work?

Heat works for getting it to flex a little bit, but nothing like what you are trying to do.

bambam, hatches bolt up just like the 4dr's do. All hatch bumpers I've ever seen/sold don't have that lip on the top, it's all just flat. Even the Buddy Club hatch bumper I have on my car is a hatch and it doesn't have that lip. All CRX bumpers I've seen have that filler lip. I'm pretty sure it's for a CRX. For a bumper that nicely made, I doubt he just got a "bad" bumper. That bumper is extremely clean and well made.

it definately looks like a civic bumper because it has the small filler piece moulded in and not the long one like the CRX uses. but it looks way too rounded for where it sits under the headlights

sure its not the tabs on the side that the stock bumper screws onto thats holding it back? thats what it looks like to me, but then again, pics in the daylight would be better too. also in the pic above, the bumper is too high, is it the way u were holding it? or is it warped?

you need to pull up from the bottom corner and work the top corner over the plastic piece that the side screws go into in order for it to fit. had the same trouble when puttin my kit on. youll prolly need a second person helping you to keep the center lined up. using something to heat up the edges helps too to get it to be a little more pliable.

civic_geek133
01-09-2005, 01:43 PM
you get one side lined up as good as you can get it and the other side wont get lined up...

the side that gets lined up still has bad gaps where the fender meets the bumper...and the holes on the side where the corner lights are the tab doesn't even come close enough to the car so you can start to bolt it on

it seems kind of that the tabs in the middle on each end are to far back and not allowing(spelling) it to go all the way back

i still think u sould pull the fenders off real quick and see how it fits with the fenders off

bumper isn't even touching the fender...

i would agree with bam on it not being for a crx, never seen one bolt up like that on a crx.
