Fusible Links to Solenoid?

I've just purchased a '93 S-10 (2.8) that has been dead for several months ... the previous owner told me that it died while driving - likely some type of electrical short as both battery cables caught fire and burned. My question - both leads to the solenoid (the accessory and ignition I think) were also burned in half. The owner took the starter off and cut both leads above where they were burnt meaning to fix the problem later .. which he never did. I'm thinking that one, or both of these leads are supposed to have fusible links in line just before connecting to the solenoid - the owner can't remember and the wiring diagram in my Hanes manual doesn't say either way - can anyone help me with this? Thanks in advance for any help ...

most do have a fuseable link putting one in won't hurt anything you just need to find out how many amps your starting system pulls, ask your local parts store if they sell a fuseable link for it it probably has one.
