Bmw's marketing

Any other serious bmw fans a little worried right now? Think about it for a minute before i explain why i am. Ok first off i just have to say i love bmw's so people dont think im speaking up for another company. Ok Bmw right now is making M's that are decently fast but not cutting edge compared to what AMERICAN car companies are making. Thats a worrisome thought if you ask me. Just look at the new z06 that does 0-60 in the 3's or look at the new Chrystler FirePower thats in the m3's price range and does 0-60 in 4.5. Bmw is starting to lose the edge if you ask me. Sure they are producing amazing cars like the m5 and m6 that do 0-60 in less than 5 but they arent pushing performance with smaller models. They are focusing on luxury with some haul ass power to go along with it when they should at least make one just flat out haul ass car with some luxury. I believe Bmw needs a serious supercar to show the world it means business. All it would take is a small roadster with the v10 in it and you would have a corvette killer. Now some of you are probably wondering ok but why bother if bmw will have control of the large sedan world... well Cadillac is coming out with new vehiciles that are only a little slower than the m5 and nearly as nice and Chrystler is also making big faster cars with their hemi's. Maybe im going crazy but id love to see M step it up and throw all their skill into a supercar to take on mercedes, porsche, aston martin, and all the other super cars on the market. Ok im ready for your criticism...... post away lol.

Well first of all, the new Z06 is going to be substantially more expensive then the C5 Z06. Some sources are saying up to $70,000, but more realistically the low $60,000.
Second of all, the BMW M3 really isn't designed to compete with the Corvette and "Firepower!" Really the M3 is in a class of its own (only 5-seater sports-coupe in price range), and is closer to the Audi S4 and Benz C55 AMG. There is a MASSIVE difference in interior quality between the M3 and the C6 Corvette. BMW isn't losing its edge, I'd say the M3 is better then the S4, C55, and CTS-V, its actual competition, which is impressive since the E46 M3 is the oldest of them.
Third, the E46 is coming to the end of its life span, and is about to be replaced by the E90. Soon after that there will be a new M3/M4 (read the "M4 pricing thread" for more info) that will have a new 400hp, 4.0L V8 based on the M5/M6 V10. That car should be good for at least a high 4 0-60, maybe even a mid 4.
As for a BMW supercar, I've been talking about this for a while, and I don't just want a Corvette killer, I want BMW to go further then that. BMW is the only major German manufacturer without a supercar. VW/Audi has Porsche and Lambo, and are coming out with the Lemans Quattro, and Benz has the SLR McLaren. BMW made an engine over 10 years ago capable of beating either of those cars. The S70, the BMW built engine in the McLaren F1, is one of the finest road going engines ever built. I want a new BMW V12 supercar to beat out everything in its way, including the Enzo and Koenigsegg. There have been hintsof a new supercar from a couple interviews I've read, but nothing too substantial. Maybe im just dreaming...

Well i agree with you that the M3 is in a class of its own. My dad owns one and after having driven many other vehicles nothing seems to own up to my dads ///M3. Despite the point that it is in a class of its own, i would like to see them spank american cars just for the hell of it lol...Anyway... not the issue. I agree that the v12 used in the mclaren would be perfect for a BMW super car or even if they did something crazy like say... supercharging or turbo charging the v10 lol... funny thought huh? but if anyone can do it id say its the BMW engineers. And yes you can think im crazy but you have to admit that would be amazing lol. I think we should make a petition and send it to BMW and maybe take donations to get them started on a project...... ok that was a joke but if it would get them rolling i know i would do it lol.
