My sister bought this car and it was a repo from the bank. Unfortunatily it has a code set in the factory radio and we don't know what that code is. Does anyone know of a way to get that and make the radio work?

you can take it to a Mitsu dealership and they can reset it for you

to get the code you have to go to a mitsubishi dealer and get it. Some charge you for it, some don't. i know my first one was free at a st. louis dealership, but that radio quit and my second one cost 5 bucks in springfield, so i gues it all depends on where you go. You are better off to have the radio out before you go because they will probably charge if they take it out for you.

most of the time the codes come from the factory as 1234 ect unless the person who owned it before changes it

get the serial number on top of the radio and call a Mitsu dealership. they'll ask you for that number and maybe ur VIN number, i forgot if they asked me for that or not

Try 6778. Thats one of the universal codes for the CD player. You only have 3 chances to get it right. After that you must put the battery charger (with the battery connected to the car) on the battery and the key needs to be in the "on" position. You must leave it that way for atleast 1hr and that will reset the CD player.

why not buy a new cd deck instead of taking it to the dealership and charging you up the ass

mine was different but they should be a little piece of paper on top of the radio if you pull it out. try that number and if not call the mitsu place with the id number and they can give it to you over the phone

I don't think that they can give you the code unless you go to the dealership...some antitheft deal. But i agree w/ 1trickedoutdsmra i think you should just buy and install a new one, because it would be cheaper than having the dealership do it.

yea man all i did was call a dealership and gave them my serial number on top of my cd player and that was it. also, when i was puttin in codes at random tryin to figure it out, all i had to do was disconnect and reconnect the negative battery cable for the cd player to reset itself.

if you call the dealership and give them the serial number off the top of the cd player and the vin on your car they will give you the number. if they want to charge you for it call a different mitsu dealership. search google and you can find phone numbers for a bunch of them

Thanks for all the posts! Her radio now says off on the display if I turn it on. I'll try to take it out this weekend and get the s/n. Also try to get it to reset. She can't afford a new one right now. Still trying to figure out how she is going to pay for the car in the first place! hahaha
By the way...if I do get it to reset and get the code. How do I enter it? I realize you use the 1234 buttons on the front for the radio stations but then how do you ...like hit enter or whatever when you do have the right code in there?

Hit the button that says "Tape" on it.
And to reset the radio you need to put the car on a charger with the key to the "On" position and leave it that way for an hour.
