I have a 1993 Cadillac Seville STS and the service engine light is on. I took it in to a friend of mine and had the code read... dirty throttle body. So cleaned it out and now I need to know how to reset the service engine light. I disconnected the battery for like 5 sec and my radio reset and others like odometer, gas milage ...ect. But the light remains on. Is there a certain amount of time it has to be off? Can it only be turned off using the diagnostic machine? I would really appreciate a quick answer from anyone on the matter. thanx

Check for codes again.
To enter diagnostic mode:
1. Turn ignition "ON."
2. Depress the "OFF" and "WARMER" buttons on the Climate Control Center (CCC) simultaneously and hold until the segment check appears on the Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC).

If there are no further codes, disconnect the battery negative cable and leave it off for 30 minutes. Otherwise, cycle through the diagnostic mode by depressing the fan "HI" button. When it asks whether you want to "CLEAR CODES?", press the "HI" button again. After you are finished, depress the "OFF" button.
