back brakes

we got a 93 silverado dually and were tryin to get to the back brakes but cant figuire out how to get the drum off.does anybody know?thnx

2 things first: The emergency brake must be not applied. If it comes off partially and feels like there's a spring attached, the e-brake is applied. Some have a retainer ring around one or more of the studs, cut them off. If they won't budge, do the following:

Heat them with a propane torch, in a circular pattern around the lug nuts. Bang them with a hammer between the lug studs as hard as you possibly can. Try to pry them off with the biggest pry bar you have. Stand up, yell at the truck, and repeat all the steps.

93 dually has a full floating rear end..this means the drums ride on bearings.
You will need to remove the axle by unbolting it and pulling it out then you will need a special socket to remove the retaining nut.

thats a lot of work just to change the brakes. :eek7:

Good thing I wasn't working on it... I would have gotten my way to work :) Going back on would have been another story...
