New 2004 Grand Prix Starting Problems

Hi all,

I registered just to ask this, so let's hope someone has an idea or two. My fiancee bought a 2004 Grand Prix GT from a dealer in Florida. It just had 2700 miles on it, and I did a carfax on it, and everything looks perfect.

So her mom volunteered to go pick it up for her (we live in Ohio). On the way back yesterday, she called to say that the car wouldn't start. It wasn't the battery, as all the lights, instrument panel, etc came on, but it just wouldn't turn over. I'm not sure if she heard dry clicking when she turned the key or what it was like; I haven't talked to her directly yet. She had a towtruck come out, and he was able to get it started just by "fiddling" with it. Meaning that he didn't pop the hood or open the fuse box or anything; he merely kept trying to turn the key and got it to work. The driver said he has seen this happen in a few late-model pontiacs and that he thinks it's related to the theft detterant system having a short.

She called this morning to say that she stopped and started the car several times throughout her trip home yesterday, after that, without fail, but again this morning, it will not start. As if perhaps if it sits for so long, it happens. (???)

So now we're looking at taking it to a dealer to have it fixed (it's warranty, of course) but that will set us back yet another couple of days, and it's already been a solid month that she has bought the car and been paying on it without having it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

It's hard to say without the car sitting here. Tow driver maybe right. Has happened to a few of the people on this site.
Seeing that it's under warranty, I wouldn't mess with it too much. But if it gets to the dealer and they scan it, if nothing shows, They will more then likely send it back out the door without doing anything.
I'm still going with the driver.
