OK on the laser when i was looking at the stock intake i noticed that there was a sensor right around the filter part. I know on my Cavalier all i had to do was drill a hole but this sensor is different. If i unplug it (which i would have to do if i put a new intake on) then the check engine light comes on. is there something i am forgetting to do here or is there a "trick" to making that sensor believe it is plugged in.

By the way the the basic stats on the car are as followed

1.8L (Slow)
5 Speed Manual.
1993 Plymouth Laser

YUP... that is your IAT sensor... there is a chip...well it's a resistor that makes your car think that the air coming in is about 32 degrees and runs at the cold idle... little more power but uses more gas........ You can find it on ebay...

That's just one of them.... they are all the same really... A friend of mine got one for his grand prix GT and it added some "oooomph" I don't know about the up to 20HP gain!! he he he maybe more like 5hp or so.

I'm pretty sure what he's talking about is the MAF sensor. In another thread someone said that the 1.8s use the same MAF as the turbo cars unless I'm mistaken. In that case, there is no way to get around using that sensor.

OK let me try and expalin this a little better and it might help. there is the platics/rubbery tube that comes from teh motor to a metal sphere thingys. well at teh end of the tube is a metal ring and inside the metal sphere is the filter. well this sensor is connected to the metal ring that is on teh end of the tube. and as far as the resistor your talking about i've heard of them. I've also heard of them screwing up computers and stuff as well. but that don't mean it happens all teh time. i have the repair book and maybe i will try to find a picture somewhere to show you guys exactly what i ma talking about. it is one of those things that sounds funny to explain but once you see it your are like "OOOOOHHHH"

yes that is your maf. just get a k&n filter that fits on your stock maf. take out the airbox that the whole thing usually goes into and get a hardpipe to go from the maf to the engine.
