hey guys, so ill be leaving for college soon and ive decided ill need(or...want) a new car. not taht i dont love my car but. my parents agreed to help with maybe 500-1k which is more than generous i think. so i was thinking of maybe a hatch. good mileage, reliable, big cargo space, cheap isurance. i want a swapped hatch though, maybe an h22 or b18. would i be better off buying a shell and paying for the swap itself(budget:$7500-7900) or just buying an already swapped car. also i can't decide which motor would be best. b18, h22, or even an ITR swap??what do u guys think would make for the wildest ride(and practical)?? ill probably strip out the back completely too(need the space). but keep in mind i wont be doing any of this for at least another 6months-1yr but id like to research as much as possible before doing anything. any info would be great. thanks guys.

I personally would buy a car and then have the swap done. Only because in general people who go through the hassels of swapping an engine are running the car hard. Most people who don't race their car or have any need to go fast, wouldn't go through all the troubles of swapping a new different engine. But that's just my opinion on it.

lol true cola. but honestly, its not like im not gunna drive the car hard. big diff. is that id only drive it hard on the weekends. anyways, i dont see any problem racing a car every so often as long as its not every time you step into the car and as long as your not driving stupid like grindin' gears n shit ya know? im just wondering if id be able to find a better deal for an already swapped car for my budget.

btw, straying off subject for a bit. my fascination for swapped hatches first came when i saw a video of a 92 hatch w/ stock k20a take an evo on the highway by 4 cars. it was sickkk...

Yeah chances are you would get the car cheaper if you found one already swapped, there would also be less headaches involoved. But you have a pretty big budget, you could do alot with that much money. Even a turbo if you really wanted to. Why do you insist on getting rid of your car though?

7500-7900? thats a big budget?? the reason im going to sell my car is because most likely ill be going to school at michigan ann harbor and i live in chicago so itll be quite the drive. i love my car but i need something with at least a bigger trunk or backspace and at the same time i want a fun car to drive so. its a damn shame i gotta sell my car too, ive only had it for 2 yrs and its at 63kmiles mint.

Actually it all depends on what you want in your car. A B18 is lighter than a H22. Tha H22 got more power tho, but ive seen swapped GSRs kill swapped H22s. But tha H22 obviously gotta bigger displacement which means you can put out more power. Tha thing i dont like bout B18s are that they dun got enough torque(atleast fo me). Also a H22 would take up alotta space because mah homeboi gotta EG hatch wit a F22b an DAMN dat thing barely fits in there. So personally I would prefer a GSR over a H22 because 1)its cheaper 2)it would be easier to work wit in a hatch.

what was done to the gsr? a gsr in a eg chassis paired up with an h22 in the same chassis with the same mods would lose by a huge amount. if the cars have the same things done to them this would be the case. what do you need all that extra room that you gain with a gsr swap for anyway? an h22 hatch is a destroyer.

hey iVTeC, granted your right that it would be easier to work with than an h22, a b18cl is definetly not cheaper. also, the h22 is a torque monster and would take a gsr in the 1/4 anyday hands down. BTW hontoy, im not dreaming, im one of those ppl who actually do what they say aright bud.

Buy a hatch and put the H22 in. Its worth it

I'd rather take the B18 over the H22. I've been wowed by the insane aftermarket for Integra parts. That and ITR blocks are a bit lighter than H22s, which will give you a better weight distribution.
Although H22s are cheaper..
