EGR problem

Well , I got around to removing the manifold and tearing my car down today. I went to throw on the new holley projection intake and lord behold , No spot for my brake booster line and my EGR valve doesn't fit to the stud width. Wtf ? Anyone else done a holley projectio intake manifold and if so , what EGR did you have to use for it ?
Also , can I eliminate the EGR and pass emissions?
Wtf..does a EGR do -_-

well Ive never used the intake manifold before.. But no you probably wont pass emissions
the EGR (exhaust gas recirculation) takes spent exhaust gasses and dumps them back into the intake manifold to be re-burnt in the combustion chambers.. It lowers the combustion tempature to prevent the formation of NoX gas..
your car also might not run properly without it..

That's part of the red silicone hose kit I put on my car ..It runs up to the short ram intake unit , which I had to take off so either way , the red tube had to move somewhere so I just left it on my tbi unit.
Jegs Tb spacer , silicone hose kit..damn , i'm in business as soon as I figure out how to do this EGR ordeal.

hey that sucks cause they are supposed to have all the same hook ups as stock just be a high rise manifold even if u do figure out the egr u stil lneed that vacum line

You can hook it up to exhaust. The brake booster anyways. If holley says some stupid crap about the vacuum line not being used on that manifold , I will either tap a hole or I will smack the hell out of them =D

what do u mean u can hook the brake booster up to the exaust i didnt think the exaust produced vacum and if so not enough for a brake booster

Oh a v-8 can produce plenty of exhaust vacuum if you get the right connections and do it , cause it to suck instead of fill.

Heres some shots of instal progress and completion. Still have the EGR valve problem though..

Hey Justlearning , You wanted to know how to hook up the brake booster right , well I figured out my own way to do it now leaving me with just the ERG valve. This is really easy and inexpensive to do , maybe 5 bucks. Anywho , If you look on the left side of the engine ( driver side , brake drum side , yadda yadda yadda ) You have your valve cover and your pcv valve. Anyways , Your pcv valve runs a tube for suction right into your throttle body unit. Just get a 1/4" 3 way tee split and plug one end into your TBI body , One for the PCV valve and then you may or maynot have to run a new vacuum hose for the brake booster but run it right to the little brake booster vacuum line canister thats on there. Bingo done. Drove mine around a bit today and worked wonders.

oh so it does produce enough vacum to operate both...and still sucks the fuel in the same ok i gotcha but ive never looked into one of those spliters b4 what about just hooking the line up to a vacume canister of some type just something to hold all the vacume and then it would have the spots to hook up accesories to it but thats probably just more cost for the same thing huh

Pretty much plus..where you going to put it ? 3rdgens are packed engine bays with 8's. I had to put my damn MSD box in the driver side cover laying flat agaunst my wheel well because there is no where else to put it. This little Tee is no biggy to find and extremely simple to do. I can make you a diagram if you need. Also , you have to remember , It's the engine that creates the suction not the throttle body unit. So yes , the engine is far more than enough to run both brake booster vacuum and PCV valve. The brake booster vacuum only needs like 5 psi of suction. You can make it work off lung power.

lol yeah thats cool but itll be a couple of months before i get the manifold and need the diagram first i gotta get those headers and have a y pipe made for them since i dont think they have one (you never said anything bout one so i assumed the didnt) then i gotta get that hood too wich is gonna be the one to put a dent in my pocket after shipping

The headers will bolt right onto the OEm Y - pipe dude. No sweat with that , you can just get a sizer for the header.

i thought u said they have three inch collectors i dont belive my y pipe is three inch man i sure hope they arent the 2 1-2 inch collectors and what are sizers

Reducers I meant. You can use them on OEM y-pipes with reducers..lol. No they are 3" collectors. Wrong wording.

ooohhhh ok well thats good to know i can put the reducers on there for the drive to winchester then take em off and have a three inch y fabbed up
