celica gt vs. focus svt

met up with a kid i know with a newer focus svt and wow.. we had a few runs.
1st run- of the line had me by 4 cars or so by end of second lol
2nd run - 50mph roll or so..we both hit it and again he walks like nothing all the way until 100 or so when we shut down.
all i can say is sleeeeper!! all hes done to it is ignition and intake, so sad how he walked on my celica like i was in a kia or something lol :( anyways just figured i would share my severe beating with you all :(

my friend just got a 93' celica 4 speed and its pretty nice, its the hatch back one so hes goin to put his kicker 15 with huge ass box inside.. also it has a nice ass cold air intake and clean 17" rims.

mid-low 15, presuming the driver is really good, most of the time mid-high 15.

yeah mid to high 15's is what i thought too, not much of a sleeper

even w/ the v6 eclipse i own... quite embarrassing, but i blame that on the motor mounts and darn Cali spec engineering, if i didn't have either i could hit 14's easily

the SVT's aren't a bad buy, but it makes you wonder if ford actually engineered it

It must have been a sleeper. I thought the SVT performed similiar to the Celica GT

I find it hard to believe this thing could run in the low 15s, even if it's a 6-speed. I've heard that the 17s are more what this thing runs.
Besides, isn't the Focus known more for its handling and not its acceleration?

umm, a non svt focus runs better then 17 dude, And thats with 135hp zetec. look on the net instead of "thinking"

Your car looks like the Celica All Trac Turbo, but from what you describe, it can't be, since it lost soo badly. Is your car the N/A Celica model?

All the times I found were between 16.1 sec @ 91 mph - 15.8 sec @ 91 mph.

So what if I was just "thinking?" According to the above, was only a second off on one of the times.

1 second is quite the difference in a race. But don't worry you were just making an assumption. Nothing wrong with that.

Anyway, I've come across only one Focus SVT. Didn't run with it, wanted to really bad, but there was traffic. I really haven't heard too many good things about them, in fact I really haven't heard anything other than they're a waste of money. But that's just what I heard. Nothing else more than that. Late...

either way the celica looks 10x better.

From what I've heard though the SVT doesn't do its best in the 1/4 mile but rather on a curvy road. I think SVT put a racing type suspension on it and I think it's the best handling car in its class.

svt doesn't do good in the 1/4 mile with a driver that can't launch, typical will pull a high 15, very very good driver can dip into the low 15, and yes, the svt is better for autoX and curvy roads then a drag strip.

I raced a stock SVT Focus a few times a while back. He put up a decent fight, but I was able to pull away every time without trouble. I'd say they're mid 15sec cars judging my the races I had. Low 15's with an excellent driver.

yup mid 15 sec car, the numbers are practically the same for the spec-v and the mazdaspeed turbo protege, and i think their times are all about the same too unfortunately i have yet to race any of them...i think i'd win though...i think

Low 16s? This is an "SVT" vehicle, right? This is the first time I've ever even heard of a SVT Focus. I guess I see why now. So, seeing other posts in here, it was built to handle turns, etc. better, right?

yeah its a corner curving car. Fords rally car is a focus i think that was the direction it was going but dunno. Also someone said makes u wonder if ford really made it what the hell and where did that come from bc its too good of a car? j/w not flaming or yelling at u but just want ur reasons

No, all we have is the Focus and the SVT focus. I think we have an RS model, but it ins't a turbo.
