Jake and I worked on the car for about 3 days, and she is finally back up and running! The new valve stem seals are great, and she is no longer puffing blue smoke :).
As it turned out, I had little to do with the install--it is hard to restrain Jake when he has a garage, a jacked up car, and all of his tools to work on it. I can't thank Jake enough for all the work he put in, fixing the valve stem seals, getting the turbo in, and helping me tune, etc.

Good post!
Glad to hear it is up and running. Honestly, I miss my B16g alot. Transient boost response was soooo sweet.

Very nice!!! I'm glad everything went well. Maybe I'll have to post up a review of the 14b when I get it ;) - mainly to compare it with the t25.
One question - the problems you had with the SS oil feed line, was it because you bought it used and some of the fitting were not included? I'm asking because I bought mine brand new from SBR and they say it's just a direct replacement straight from the filter housing. Oh well, I guess I'll find out soon enough :) . Congrats, and make sure to rape some stangs and vettes for everyone here :p

Great post. Clearly written, good engrish, well done. Reminds me of how modding these cars used to be exciting. It cost me a fortune to get from mid 12s to high 11s, and the car didnt feel like it made that quantum leap in performance that you get going from 14s to 12s. And when it ran the 11.3, it didnt feel any faster than the 11.8 at all. Oh well. Just have to live vicariously through all you guys that are still having fun with this :D
Something else worth noting is that with the better flowing hotside your exhaust note certainly will change, if thats what you noticed its not in your head ;) There is also a substantial drop in EGTs if you watch those sorts of useless things. But it shows the effect.
Enjoy :)

Install went good but the SS feed line was messed up, he bought it from a mod on tuners and it didnt come with the right fittings, the banjo bolt was too big for the turbo feed bolt and the fitting on the other end was too small for the feed on the head and oil filter housing. So we had to get a fitting that worked out good except I didnt get it tight enough and had to take it back off and really wrench on it. Other than that there were no problems. It was good times, glad I could help out and get a good vacation at the same time.

damn man you got something form Sidewinder DSM of St. Pete, did tony charge you like $100.00 for the bolt? That is the guy that kinda helped me do my motor. oyeah, he's also the guy that made me a bolt so i could hook up my 16g oil line to my 2nd gen(when i had it). The bolt was not letting any oil get to it, and 5 days and (at the time 16g's where $700.00) it blew up, broke right in half. If you guys ever need anything around FL, don't buy from him. He has this honda guy working for him and they did a 16g and intercooler, and timeing belt for this guys AWD. The honda guy did not but the cam gear bolt on all the way and what do you thing happend.(boom) i gave him my 2nd gen head and he put it back on. Then the guy comes back and sayes the car don't run right and i here nocking. He tells the guy you prob have crank walk and that he should take it back where he got it. the guy don't know that they did anything to the car. What a dick. Let me know how the evo 16g holds up i wanna get one and slow boy has them for like $500.00.

They hold up fine, countless people are running them now, not to mention all the people that actually had EVO3s. :) They are made by Mitsu Heavy Industries like all thier other turbos.

yeah that's cool, live in z-hills now, but that's only like 20min away. work at lazydays i bet you know where that is?
but as for tony he was not working on that motor the met him at a race and the guy was showing him all the stuff they use. he build's his own part;s because he is an ingineer, he dis Eckard College. he does no some stuff but he dicked me and i did a lot for him. he would not even have a shop if it was not for me.
it's kinda funny, i gave him my 1990 trany to help me build up this 1st gen motor and help put it in. (i'm a honda guy) he tells me take the old motor out and don't worry about labbeling anything i know where it all goes. i said, ok. then i towe the car to his shop and me and my girl did all the work, and we even put it in. Then he say's what do you think i should charge you for this? i said, shit....not a damn thing. I did all the work. he said, wll it has to be wierd up so i'll do that for like $100.00, i was like WTFE ok fine. so he looks at the motor and sayes y didnt you labbel anything? i said, you ass, you told me not to!!!. he was like ok. i never paid for anything so i guess we are even.
do you know how to make your own banjo bolt? i had to for the head to the turbo oil. just need a drill press (have one)
we'll have to hang out someday. right now we are in busy seson at work and i only get like 4 days off this mo, but that's cool well hang out. take you to the street race's where you can't have a pussy foot. when it's time to go it's time to go......... i'll put you on some real power and you can ride my honda CBR 600. hahaha

Yeah Tony seemed like he had a few screws loose! All in all he is a good guy and it was fun talking with him but he would not let us leave. The guys working for him were morons though except Art and another dude. They knew their shit which is who I kept talking too. Tony said his GST runs 12 flat (cause he has experimented with them so much he knows exactly how fast they are) and had 650 to the wheels on the stock sidemount and what looked like was either a 14b or 16g. He said it was a 18g but I have my doubts, expecially on 550cc injectors, doesnt use a logger to tune, just has a EBC and AFC I, Boost and AF gauges. His car looked pretty good but there is no way he's spitting out 650whp even if it has an 18g on it. I just kept saying "wow", "damn" and "ok thats cool".
He stated he shattered a 3 puck race disk (clutch) within his 3rd launch cause his car has too much power. Personally I think he is full of shit and I feel I could easily take him in my RST. Hopefully I'll end up bringing one of my cars (prolly the spyder) down to Daytona for Spring break/Tuner Bash. Maybe I'll have to stroll over to Tampa/St Pete and see if he'll race for titles :lol2:
And Joe has a goal to meet by spring break! Better start working on that Joe. Maybe by then you can beat Sarah :p. Sorry but I will never stop givin ya shit for that. Its all good man but you still need to make that goal or I will whoop your ass when I come down again!
Also, get that logger working! You need to tune that beast before something bad happens. Seemed to be pretty close when we were doing pulls but get that logger from someone.

but jake, art is the guy that fuckes up peoples cars. he's a honda guy and he is all talk..lol
tony has paid for 4 cars that i know of that art messed up. as for his car hell no it ant no 650 he can kiss ass. my girl drove his car and said it's kinda fast but nothing big. he had a 16g on there i don't know of any thing bigger that he put on. as for being a good guy? yeah only if your spending $$$ with him. like i said , he dicked me. another story of a guy i know that tony did his motor. he told this kid that he did a full port and polish on his head, ross pistons and all the works. the kid blows a head gasket and i pull the head off and what do you know, no prot no polish and the pistons where loss as a hooker. he has been doing this for a long time so he does no some stuff but i don't trust him, and he charges tooo damn much.

I have 2 DSMs in my garage with no motor or drivetrain at all, in various states of dissasembly. I have no sympathy :D Havent had the motivation to work on either in 3 months.
