You can purchase a fuel line disconnect tool at almost any parts store.
The fuel line has a spring lock inside. You must disengage the spring lock to remove the line.

So, now that I have purchased the tool, I'm assuming that it goes in from the 'back side' of the connector.... Is there usually a problem with fuel draining, since the filter is even with the lowest level of the tank OR was Ford smart enough to build in a cutoff on the connectors ?? (Yea right ;-}) Have you experienced any problems with vapor lock/air in the lines on the injected '92 XLT, as a result of all of the fuel draining out, once the forward connector is removed ??
Thanks, SlNole

No I haven't .
The only thing is that you will need to cycle the key on then off repeatedly to build up the fuel pressure that was lost during
replacement of the fuel filter..
Hope this answers your question

a tip....
start the truck..open the hood...open the power distrubution box and pull the fuel pump relay...LET THE NEGINE DIE! then try to crank it for like 2 sec's to clear the lines. then when you pull the filter all you have to worry about is the fuel in the filter..maybe a 1/2 quart or so, its a big darn filter
