Well guys (& girls),
I have had my Talon for 4 months now, lost the crank sensor 2 weeks after i got the car, and now have been having some coolingsystem quirks.
Started out I had to top up my coolant level with about 1/2 gallon every week, but in the past 2 weeks that has changed to about 1 gllon per day. It was not being eaten by the engine, but instead was being forced out the overflow bottle.
Did the following tests
1-Removed the thermostat from the system. Did not help
2- Pressure checked the system...Held at 25 lbs for over an hour
Now we remove the head......
Well look there......a VERY SMALL compression to cooling system leak right between #2 and #3 cylinder.
So for those of you who WILL have htis same problem, I suggest doing the Head Gasket as soon as possible, before you run into MAJOR PROBLEMS !!!!
And hey while you have the engione half torn apart..good time to do the valve seals, water pump and timing belt
This total job has cost about 800.00 CAD, much cheaper than replacing an engine.....
1992 Talon 2.0 DOHC Non-Turbo .....NO MODS.....YET!!!!

So I don't understand the problem....you are changing the HG now, but don't know if it solved the problem yet? If it were my car, I would have done a leakdown test or had one done before pulling the head.
Could be your water pump, could be your radiator cap. My bet is the water pump, unless your HG was toast. This is a good excuse for doing other maintenance, but next time do a leakdown test before pulling the head, and maybe eliminate one of your problems.

Did all the tests fist, and yes it solved the problem, there was a .004" warp between number 2 and 3 cylinders
