Never seen it done with straight wood and carpet. I've done it on cars and trucks by using wood to make a mold for fiberglass, making it all smoother looking.

what kind of car is this going in. And I don't think you want 6x9's in the back. It will throw off your sound imaging completely, and if you don't have back seats you don't have passengers to complain about not being able to hear it. Unless you have your heart set on it, I would toss the 6x9's idea because it will sound pretty bad.

I have also never seen it done with just wood but if done right it could look and sound fine. don't forget, you can't just put subs on a peice of wood, you have to have some sort of box or chamber behind it or you will get bad cancellation and again ruin your sound quality.

You either have to put the subs in a box, or get free-air subs.

i have a CRX and did the same idea u have, i put two 12's in a piece of mdf the length and width of the regular back seat, and built the sub box around it. it worked out fine and sounded decent, but now i am going to make something out of fiberglass so it looks purty.
