The mess I'm making of the interior of my tamiya boxter.. I'm well not happy with the finish I'm getting for the dash board. the seats are fine the paint is nice and smooth but the dash is just not smooth enough. and same for the door panels there fine. I am even quite happy with the first coat of black I have put on the car. I have sanded the first coat down so its nice and smooth and I'm going to put another coat on after work 2 night.

Its the dash its just not smooth enough. Its not just that but I cant get the speaker grills are just not getting them right.. I was thinking of just sanding the whole thing down and painting it cream 2 match the rest of the interior and not putting any detailing.

I think that sanding the whole thing might work good , but you gotta do it right... Anyway try to use enamel paints ... they take a little longer to dry but should be smoother...

If you're using Tamiya paints, it will be very hard to get a smooth finish by brush painting

MAybe you should think about spray painting, or getting an airbrush

Are you using enamel's?
If not, try using them as they take longer to dry and give's you abit more time when doing interiors with a brush. I find they have alot smoother finish too then water based paints.

Do it right or not at all should be everyones philosophy in model making. I suggest u either strip the paint from the dash or sand it smooth if u have to brush paint then go for enamels as mentioned above. But they are usually to thick to use straight out of the tin/jar so get the appropriate thinner for them or alternatively u can thin them down with white spirit - which is loads cheaper.
U might also want to think about spraying the parts, a can of satin black will be enough to spray several model interiors. As for your speaker grills try using masking tape then spraying with the appropriate colour.

Also, a VERY GOOD quality brush will also help a big deal.
