Got Torque?

ok, even though i have been around cars for a while i am still definitely a newbie. i am turning 16 in february and i live in aurora colorado. im looking for an 87-93 5.0 5 speed that i want to turn into a killer street machine. i know that these are hard questions to answer but i would like some thoughts from some other car nutz. i would like to know how much power i might make with decent tuning and possible quarter mile times (assuming im a decent driver), keep in mind that this is at bandimere speedway in colorado. the setup that i was going to go with starts with a pro-street 306 ci (9.0:1 compresion) rotating assembly from chp. with bbk shorty (ceramic coated of course) 1 and 5/8in headers, magnaflow 2 1/2 high flow cats/mufflers w/ x-pipe exhaust. bbk aluminum underdrve pullies, bbk CAI, gt-40 lower intake, and twisted wedge heads (unported). as for induction, i was gonna go with a kenne bell blowzilla/flowzilla at 12lbs. (the flowzilla intake part is only compatible with a gt40 lower). what cam would keep me street legal but be good for 6200 rpm? ( the kenne bell is for low end torque but i wanted a cam that is somewhat high end) would this even be emissions legal? i already thought about drivetrain stuff. any help is very appreciated. and as i said before these are difficult questions but you guys are frickin smart.

Correct me if I wrong... but I believe the Kenne Bell blowers for the 302/351 motors don't have an optional air to water heat exchanger like the 4.6 one's. I'm semi positive here....

If so there is no way your gonna run 12lbs into a 9.0:1 motor on pump gas w/o some type air charge cooling either an FMIC or some kind of alcohol/methanol injection.

This is the second time in like an hour a 16 year old/almost 16 year posted about some kind of insanely fast car. Dude..you need to learn how to drive a car before you start talking about getting an 11 second car.

youre right, they dont make an intercooler for those kits, which is why im going to try to fabricate one. i forgot to mention that.

look i know how to drive, and ive been thinkin about every part for at least two years now.and im not lookin for 11 sec. i was hoping for mid to high 12's. i dont mean to sound like a dick, but why do i get this feeling that you think i know nothin because im young. granted you probably have more experience and knowledge but dont underestimate me.

I'm not saying you don't know anything about cars. I'm just saying you don't need a really fast car. You're not even 16...so I'm assuming you don't have a license...so how well do you think you can drive? Trust me. A high performance RWD clutch can and will get away from you. Someone on here in a different part of the forum was talking about a 16 year old with a TT supra who couldn't handle it and ended up wrecking it.

believe me i know i dont need it, but ive been in (and drove) an 02 supercharged gt that had around 430 hp and torque. whenever we raced or merged onto the highway i got a rush that i never felt before. this is my life. of course im not gonna be able to do anything to it for such a long time. but that gives me time to learn and to be responsible. i just want your guys' ideas. dont try to talk me out of it.

your 5.0 will have a diffrent feel from any cobra youve driven. We're not trying to talk you out of it..heck were all here because of that rush we got the first time we romped a v8..right guys? were just saying you shouldnt have such high expectations of a car you havent even bought..

Exactly. That car stock will be plenty fast for you. and if you absolutely think you need more...get some bolt ons.

youre right, maybe i will get it and it will be fast enough, maybe not. but all i know is that ill eventually get hooked on the bolt on adventure and it will never end. thats the way it almost always is right? well thanks anyway
