AX4N Transaxle Harness Connector ??

I recently started experiencing a quick dead miss condition when at a stop light. The engine just felt like it stops momentarily but it does not stall. It progressed to erratic shifting and what seems like the engine is stumbling during acceleration. The issue does not occur when the engine and transmission are cold. I started looking for corrosion in the connectors. The transaxle harness connector was full of transmission fluid. I soaked up the fluid and cleaned the connector with silicone spray then vaccumed the connector to remove excess fluid.
The question is why would the transaxle harness connector be filled with fluid? Is the area inside the transaxle pressurized where the harness connects? Your help appreciated!
