QX4 VCR player controls?

Just bought a 2001 QX4 and no cistructions on VCR. Loaded tape and player works but no sound or other controls. Manual has no mention of system although factory equipment. Am I missing a remote? Any help appreciated.

Also missing the AUDIO up button. Dealer says whole new unit! Any suggestions?
