I'm having problems with the security light not going off. This happens when i try to start my car...I turn on the key, crank it twice and it won't start...i leave it on the third time and wait until all the lights go off but the security light stays on, i leave it on for 10 minutes or til the security light goes off then i turn the key off & back on but it still won't start  . I do the same thing over 4 times then i wait for 1 hr and go try it again. I don't know much about the newer cars but if anyone can help me, i appericate it.....thank you

leave the key in the car for 10 min....with it turned to run...then go back and try to start it...without turning the key off...you may need a jumper pack or something....but try that....if not then you may have to get someone to look at it with a scan tool...

I waited for 10 min. and i turned the key without turning it off....it won't start. I turned the key off & back on, it still won't start...now the security light is off and it won't start but the headlights are very dim. That is a new battery, u bought it last week. I guess, i'll have to get another battery where i got this 1 : (

I keep having the same problem. It has made me late for work many times. It has gotten worse as the weather has gotten colder. I have found a few tricks you may try. They work sometimes, and only sometimes! But it has worked! When you go to start it for the first time, turn the key to acc, wait a few seconds till all the bells stop chiming and then turn it to start and hold it till it starts. Or, turn and hold the key, don't let go till it starts. Or! If it doesn't start, immediatley turn the key back to off and then try starting it. It's in the ignition cylindar and there's really nothing we GrandAm owners can do about it. Getting it replaced is just a temporary fix, so I've heard. Can't there just be something we can unplug!!! Good luck!

I've done that and now the Security Light won't go off. I think it has something to do with the passlock...it enables the fuel system if the cylinder been tampered with.
