What kind of paint

acrylic enamel, urethane... Whats the best to use? I will be repainting my s-10 in the spring, I heard single stage is the easiest, and will produce the best results for beginners. I have some painting experience...

Acyrlic Laquer base and clear (2 step) , its alot easier than you think and is equivelant to what the truck was painted with from factory and is quite simple to maintain.
Thats just my opinion theres tons of good painting methods and single stage is the easiest. When I paint an old car I use single stage and I try to use the same type of paint they used from factory on them as well. If you use enamels they are very forgiving and no matter how faded or scuffed the paint is almost always polishable throughout its layers cus the top coat and base coat are the same no clears. Enamel is soft it never truly hardens and is extremely easy to work with.

I prefer Acrylic Urethane.

lol getting into urethane ,,,,, woosh over my head Ive never had the pleasure to try it and never really took the time to learn anything about it. I tried to get into an aprenticeship for auto body but they wouldnt agree to pay me the same as I get paid now doing detailing and since I have bills and what not it didnt look like a good idea. However I am always welcome to learn at the museum but they mainly use laquers or enamels. Whats the good and bad points to acyrlic urethanes mike?

Acrylic Urethanes are the latest and greatest.

AU is extremely compatible, and a extremely durable. Only draw back is price. Its a bit more expensive, but it lasts forever under strange conditions. Just like acrylic lacquer pretty much, just more durable, and compatible.

Just and idea how durable:
My uncle builds planes as a hobby. After he built his he used PPG's Acrylic Urethane to paint it. Few months later taking off he hit a runway light that wasnt lit. When he got back the aluminum sheet was dented up badly, but the paint was in tact in great condition.
