? for a buddy

Hey guys I know this is not about a camro but my buddy needs some help. He posted a question in the mustang forums but they just ignored him. Anyhoo, he has a 67 mustang and noticed the back or rear part of the frame has some pretty good rust on it and since its a unibody he cant find any parts to replace it. Anyway please no flaming, he just needs abit of help and any and all is appreciated. thanks guys

I'd say cut the rusted part out and weld in new material.

grinder, and por15 if its nott toooooo bad, and like geno said, extra metal, and a welder if it is.

See I was kinda wondering if there was anything that would go right over the old and then could be welded on once it was cleaned up or if could it just be boxed over?

Just grind it down and weld in some heavy-gauge metal right over the bad spot. Just make sure to weld it good....

nope, you have to get all that rust off, there is a reason they call it cancer, it will eat up the original frame, right out from under the new material, and eat that up too. grind off al the rust, weld on the support, and then prime or coat it to keep it from rusting again.

I don't think so, you will have to remove the infected area. Its a infection like cancer. It will eat away at your vehicle under-body and before you know it, it will be consuming the new uninfected area.. Use a grinder to remove all the infection and weld in the new material. Make sure you prime the area to prevent new infection.

Actually rust is has to have oxygen to continue to spread , if the rusted areas were 100 % covered with some wrap metal and then weld sealed , the runst under that couldn't spread however , it would leeave that as a weak spot. You would only be making the new metal welded on there the strong point not the rusted area being reinforced.

Oh , I don't remember what it's called but there is a chemical you can get and put on there , it eats the rust off in less than 4 hours exposing clean new metal again. For some reason it only attacks rusted areas and hurts no other materials..spooky but it works good. Should have it home depot / lowes / eagle ..etc. Much easier than grinding or sanding or buffing

I can't recall the name, but there's a substance that you can purchase that dissolves the corrosion in under 5hrs revealing clean steel again. I don't know how it only attacks the corrosion and nothing else, frightening but works. It should be in stock at your local home improvement retail stores. It's not nearly as difficult as using abrasive materials on it.

I don't seem to remember the name although there is this stuff that you can purchase that removes rust it says it requires about 4 hours but usually takes about 3. Even though I have a hard time grasping how it works it takes away the infected portion while revealing a clean area to work with, It should be available at any place you would be able to find home refurbushing materials plus it requires much less work than using a grinder would.

Since you guys are so awsome and I dont want to make this real easy for you so ill throw this in, I only want stuff to harm the rusted areas (that stuff is like a cancer you know) not the good metal.

This product you speak of interests me but never heard of such a thing, What will they come up with next. I wonder since it removes rust which is like cancer would it also kill actual cancer?.

Oh im sure it will "kill" pretty much anything it comes in contact with....
