Ignition

I've got a '96 gt with 30lb injectors, 255ltr intank fuel pump, C & L 80MM mass air, universal FMU (and will have a superchip and Paxton SN93 supercharger put in after it gets rebuilt . . . AGAIN!)
I've noticed that I have a hesitation or almost like a bogging down in the acceleration only when the engine is put under a load. I called my mechanic and he said he has a lot of problems with stock plug wires in fords. The plugs are different (don't know what type. Ramsey's Automotive in Tampa, FL put them in).
Now the question: If any of the above matters. What type of ignition system should I go with if, in fact, that is the problem?

I have MSD on my car. ACCEL makes a good product too. It could be that C&L meter too. They're not that great. Since you'll be getting and SCT tune, you can use your stock meter and whatever injectors you wish.

And your hesitation, I assume that's when you have the blower installed? Since you're running that FMU, that is probably the culprit. Dumping an imense amount of fuel in to your cylinders. Once you get that tune, that should disappear. What is your plug gap? Should be smaller than stock since it's boosted. .030 to .035

To tell you the truth, I have no idea what a C&L meter is or an SCT tune is...

I've been running the car without the blower and chip for over a year now with not too much of a problem. It's just now that I've got this problem with "midrange" acceleration. If I hammer on it, it pulls out of the shaking or hesitation pretty fast.
I'd also have to claim ignorance on the gap within the sp's. I haven't pulled them out since they were put in (several years ago).

I'm kinda confused right know.... you have #30 injectors and an FMU on your car right now but no blower?

Also what is your blower suppose to make for top psi?

Yeah, well this is a 1950's style blower that has been a proven failure. Paxton won't claim it anymore. I had to take it out when it failed along with the superchip and it ran fine for about a year and a half. I just have to get the $$ to get the blower rebuilt.
When the blower works, it's supposed to run between 5 and 6 psi.

Sounds like you stumble/hesitation is from running to rich to me....

Pull your plugs and tell us what they look like.

Alright. Finally got around to it. I pulled the plugs and the gaps vary between .036 and .058! Ford recommends .052-.056
I had a greenish tinge on most of the spark plug ground and center electrodes with some having like a white powder on the ground electrode. The porcelain around the electrode varied from red to reddish green.
Well, as I was removing the sp wires (Taylor spiro pro 8mm), 2 of the wires had the metal end cap that fits over the spark plug pull out of the rubber boot. I take it this means the wires need to be replaced too???

I'm surprised to hear that any of them showed white at all. You definitely need plugs and wires.

Not sure how a blower car is, but when the huffer goes back on, you may want to run a heat range colder than a stock plug.

Also, do you have an adjustable FPR? You'll have to back your pressure off to run 30's N/A unless you have a lot of mods, especially on a 4.6...

Also, he said superchip, not SCT tune, they're two different things...

Well, I've got the sp's and wires changed. The company that put the charger in left in stock temperature plugs (Autolites), so that's what I went with. I thought they would know more about how they tuned the car to run when everything is put in than me. The wires were changed to Accel 300+Ferro-Spiral Ultra Race wires. I noticed the old wires that had the metal clips pull out of the rubber boots also had corrosion where they plugged into the coil packs??? I don't know of the relation, but even after I made the changes, the car still vibrates through all of the gears only when the engine is put under a load (Yes, I did grind off the corrosion in the pack sockets).
I'm back to the drawing boards....
