i've got problems!!
5 yr. owner of a '93 2.8L V6 s10 w/ 135K miles. usually runs great.
basically 3 problems.
1. engine bogs down and "check engine soon" light comes on. or
2. oil pressure guage drops and "check guages" light comes on. or
3. while driving "check engine soon" light comes on.
the lights either go out on their own or i step on the gas and they go away. these are all really new problems and i'm nervous to drive. also, is it possible for someone to read error codes if the error light isn't on?

no you cant normally read a code unless the check eng. light is on but i ran in to that prob. on an 86 s10 2.8 and it turned out to be brain cancer[bad computer]

Any time a check engine has come on the code is kept for a set time(key /drive cycles) and can be viewed 93 is obd1 system and they have hard codes (lite on now) soft codes (lite was on but off now)
The thing I dont like is the oil pressure droping.
Any engine noise ??

No.
The codes are still sored and the light does not have to be on to view them.
This guy needs to go have the codes scanned and checked.
And come back here with the EXACT numbers so we can diagnose.
