im looking to get new rocker arms for my Gtp. The intense 1.9 ratio rocker arms look good. With 104,000 miles i think i will need springs. But do i also need new push rods or valve spring retainers.

Yes,if your using the LS6 springs you will also use the LS6 retainers and with a 104,000 id want to use new push rods also.

what if i go with a 1.7 or 1.8 would it still require the springs, rods, and retainers. the thing is, that with just rocker arms the mod is affordable to me. But add on an extra $250-$300 for the same amount of horspower gain just doesnt seem worth it.

Big L is right all around. With the kind of mileage you have already, it's not a HP issue; it's a reliability issue. You'd want new rods/springs/retainers now just so you don't have to possibly spend 4x the amount to have your valvetrain serviced because of those worn parts with 100k+ miles on them breaking.

Better to be safe than sorry, for sure.

Rockers-$350-$450 LS6 spring and retainers-$100 (gmpp) $100 pushrods. If you look on clubgp.com you can get some deals. I got my comp cams pushrods for $75 shipped, they only had 1k on them and they looked perfect.
