peddle to master cylinder connection

The clutch in my 93 4wd explorer sport will not disengage because the pushrod from the master cylinder came unattached form the pedal assemply. I can connect the push rod back to the pedal assembly but it will simply fall off again when i push the pedal a few times. I am not sure as to what may have gone wrong or if I am missing a particular part. It could also be wear on either the actual pedal assemply or the push rod. If anyone has seen this or heard of this before I would appreciate any help possible.

Regardless of how this came about, you can fix this with a ziptie, zapstrap, what ever you want to call it, just reassemble the assembly, then put the tie around the end of the rod (the bigger one that the clutch rod slides onto) paralell with the clutch rod, and voila. I broke that stupid clip when attemting to replace the dash lights in our 94 X-ploder. Can you beleive that ford wanted $40 bucks for that stupid clip thin that was poorly designed in the first place?!!!
