2" Lift on '92 2WD

So would it be crazy for me to lift my 2WD XJ? Just going for the look!!!

I bought a 2" kit from Rocky Road Outfitters for $140 USD. It uses coil spacers up front and block and shackles on the rear. I figure it will take about 4 hrs if I have access to a lift.

That's exactly what I have on mine, Like dycksonjl says, easy to put on, good instructions.

IdahoJeeper - What size tires are you running? Is there enouogh clearance for 31's?

right now I have 30X9.50's and they fit no prob. I imagine I could go to the 31X10.50's and still be okay, I've actually been thinking about it on the next change...

The easiest way to turn your 2WD into a 4WD is to buy a 4WD. I'd like to do it myself but the money and time seem to be too much.

converting from 2wd to 4wd is about a weekend's work, plus the cost of the parts from the junkyard. Certainly not very hard, or very expensive, but when it all boils down, it is cheaper to just buy a 4x4. Do a quick KBB search and you'll find that the average 4wd xj goes for just over $600 more than a 2wd model of identical optioning. So in the end, just sell yours and buy a 4x4 and you'll end up saving a few bucks.

the $140 2" lift kit, does it come with new u-bolts for the rear axel?

I have a 92 Laredo 2wd that is lifted 2" via the spacer/shackle method. Got the kit from 4wheel parts wholesales for $119. Daystar made it. Easy to put on, Works great. The shackles are zirk fitted. I am running 31 x 10.50's on 97 wrangler rims. rides like a champ.

I just got 31x10.5 with the Cherokee "CLASSIC" rims, I am going the spacer shackle 2" lift way too!
