Ok , well now for the next prob with my 2000 Ls.

As im driving along when i have my foot lightly on the Accelerator, i feel the car start to jerk. At first i thought the Trans. was changing gears irratictly on me. Then i felt the car jerk while sitting at a stop light. So i took it too the repair guy and he says its a "Torque Converter" inside the Trans. kicking on and off. Does this sound accurate. It dosent seem to accelerate normally. Obviously, im going to take it to the Lincoln dealer and just act like ive never took it anywhere so they can diagnose the prob. If it is.. and anyone know anything about this,, do you have a rough figure of cost or maybe even what it might be.. Pisses me off cause it only has 53k on it. Im telling you, im buying Japan made cars from now on. This is rediculous.

first sorry to hear about the problem. Second Lincoln does offer an after warranty adjustment for cars under 75K miles. Third you are making the right decision by taking it to a Lincoln dealer but I would talk to a few before you settle with one if you can.

I have had numerous transmission repairs made to my Lincon, 00 V6 Sport, and judging from what I read and learn from the sevice guys at the dealer I go I am not alone. The best i can say is go in the shop with a good attitude and an open mind turn the car over to them and let the problem rest in their hands.

In closing no manufacturer on this planet has perfected the design and manufacturing processes and sadly we are all just as likely to fnd problematic vehicles where ever we choose to shop. I do tend to agree with you though... My wife 03 3.5 SE Altima has had ZERO problems in the 36k miles she has driven. My lincoln god bless it can hardly go 10k without needing a visit to the shop.

Please keep us posted on your finding and good luck

Sounds like a $60.00 coil pack to me. Mine did the same thing. I would bet a beer (yes el es I did say beer) that it is that before your transmission. That torque converter is not going to engage and disengage at a light.

Let us know what you find!

Yeah if he is idling fine I could see where it could be the coils becasue the misfire typically on occur under load/acceleration. What kind of beer are we talking about. My favorite is free next to that is cold.

do you have a v8 or v6? you really should consider doing the job yourself if you have a v8. the shop work will set you back some serious coin for 1 coil much less 8 or 6 coils

I am in Knoxville, TN. :) I actually used to brew my own years ago. My family has been bugging me to do it again, but it is time consuming. I did have a couple of very good batches.

I guess what I am saying is...I like micro-brewed beer the best. :iceslolan

I actually just wanted to touch up on this. I called Lincoln and asked if they would cover any of the cost of the repair to my transmission if its under 75k. One guy told me that its up to the dealer if they are, the other told me that if im not the original owner then they wont do it at all. Does anyone know of a document that i could get that actually leagaly goes over this. Im feeling im gonna have to front a grand for this repair.

start here. there are some good links on this page. You can file a complaint with the a few of the including the NHSTA and center for auto safety.

I think I am going to document my issues and submit them. Apparently the only way to effect some modicum of change is register the problems with an external entity.

After reading that link above it is very clear why we get turned away from the shop. The manufacturer does not care and the dealers are forced into not caring.

Sorry I'm late to the party. I was a ford tech for 6 years and a lincoln specialist for an additional 4. The problem is a coilpack like ttbit said but...deep breath here...it's probably because the valve covers are leaking around the spark plug hole gaskets getting oil in the boots and shorting them out. The gaskets are hard to replace and it's possible to drop something or break something if your not a patient mechanic. I'm sorry to tell you this but aftermarket packs don't last very long, buy lincoln. The good news is that if it hasn't been doing it very long you can buy just the rubber boots on the end and it'll be fine, if you can find a good parts guy, they're kind've hard to find on certain parts computers. I have an LS and that was the only problem I've had but it's common on the first years. Trust me foreign cars have these same querks in different areas. Don't let a bad tech sully the good name of lincoln. Write if I can help more.
