Jay Leno vs. Jeff Gordon

I happen to be a big fan of late-night television, and on the Tonight Show this evening, Jeff Gordon was one of the guests. They had a burnout contest in two identical brand new Chevy SSRs...DAMN those things can make some SMOKE...Jeff ended up beating Jay by about 1/2 a yard (it was a distance contest). Not bad for an old rich comedian!

An old rich comedian with one of, if not THE biggest car collection in the world. That sounds like it would have been awsome to watch.

Lol that reminds me...anyone see that car he built based off of a tank's engine? It was featured in car and driver.

lol damn i wish i could have seen that...my best friend used to have burnout contests with his TEACHER...i never saw it, but the teacher has a late model Ram SS/T with quite a few goodies...supposedly pushin like 4 or 500 horses...against a esentially stock Saturn SL2...u take a guess who would win every time...

I watched that too, but I remember Jay beating Jeff by a half a yard, because at then end of the segment I remember Jay saying something like "But you had more smoke coming from the wheels". It was late, and I was tired, but I thought Jay won.

That would have been fun to watch. Too bad I got to bed at like 8 anyway. Jay's collection is unbelievable (car collection that is). I think it would be like putting a kid in a candy store for us car enthusiasts here. The only problem is, you wouldn't be able to touch or taste any of the candy. :crying: Late...

Yes, supposedly Jay has a collection of around 160 cars, including an enzo, carrera GT, the last mclaren F1 street car ever built, and the new Ford GT. And HighRev, I too read about the car he has with the tank engine....basically a long narrow tube with that giant engine sitting up front...a 27 liter(no, that isn't a type-o) diesel...one of the most impratical cars ever built no doubt...but probably one of the most fun to drive...the thing tips the scales at like 9000 pounds though, lol.

I Beleive it was around 4... or maybe it was 4 GPM can't remember, regardless it was still pretty quick, ran like a 15 in the 1/4 or something, as opposed to an abrams that ran a 33. at about 38 MPH :P

I remember reading in Car and Driver and with a manual he was getting 2 mpg, and when he switched to an allison automatic transmission his mpg doubled!! Now he's getting 4 mpg.
