I just spent 2 hours reading this forum on all the coilover systems. Now im full of information and have some questions once again, im sure yall of sick of my questions. But hey whats a forum for? well i stuck on deciding if i want to spend extra money and just by coilovers, or get this combo kit (strut and spring) i found http://w1.igateway.com/clients1/tc/store/webdata_IP.cgi?fid=1085596225&query=pagenum%3D1%26cgifunction%3DSearch%26Categor y%3Dnissan%2520240sx%26Department%3Dsprings&cgifunction=form
now those are the KYB Gr2 with tein springs, your oppinion? Or should i go with coilvers? if so which would be best for street performance, well allowing me to turn with very little sway? But there is also the choice of dampers......? now there is way to many choices, so i decided to come here and ask a bit on them. For you people who have them i have read about what you think about yours and from i found, i do not want to buy some type of suspension where i will regret it and have to sell it then go shopping again the second time, so the way my car will be set up, will eventually have the Sr then im building it for about 65% drifting, and about 35% streetrace. so maybe that will help yall throw out ideas for me, now i like the prices on dampers, but are they worth it? all helping replies are high appreciated.

yah... i have been wondering the same thing... coilovers are a lot... are they worth all that money if im not into extreeemmme tuning... i just want better handling and lower stance... are coilovers worth double the price?

You can get the Megan Racing (Bor-Chuan) for 850 and Ive heard they're decent for the money

i think the Tanabe Sustec Pro SS are the best bang for your buck. I have those, urethane bushings, front strut bar, and rear subframe spacers (drift pineapples they are also called) and my s14 slides HELLA good. the Tanabe's were like $1150 on rxecret7.com. i have it lowered all the way and it slides well and is not too bad of a ride, although a little rough. still its not like too rough where you cant drive a girl around, or where you will get sick of driving it. they have a cool helper spring that is stacked on top of the main one, looks cool and seems like it would help ride quality. im really happy with them, and they are my recommendation.

if you're gonna get kyb then get the agx's, not the gr2.. i haven't heard many bad things about the springs at all..

Since its mainly gonna be used for drifting you'll be able to reap all the benifts of coilovers as opposed to shocks and springs

- Full Height Adjustment = Lower CG is always good
- Inverted Front Struts = Stronger / less sprung weight
- Monotube = More cooling ability
- Matched Damping = Pogo Sticks Suck... nuff said
- Camber Adjustment (front) = Demon Camber is a nessicity
- More Roll Resistance that shock/spring = Faster Weight Transfer (prolly not a benift if your new to car control)

To get all that you'll be spending 1000+ on KTS or Silkroads but in my opinion its well worth it... Stay away from the Ubar JDM stuff unless you want to spend over 1800. most of the low end JDM stuff is wack (ala TEIN, JIC, GP Sports) and then theres theres the ones that are Decent you just dont get the nice extras (ala K-Sport, Bor-Chuan, Tanabe)

What's matched damping?

i think its when the spring rate is matched to the damping force of the shock

if i run KYB AGX shocks and struts with Eibach prokit springs would that be a good setup... i cant afford coilovers, and dont feel i need that much extra tuning capabilities... would the setup i said run well and smooth enough or would it be like "a pogo stick" as it was said above

the agx's have differnet ride height settings, soo im assuming you can make it a more comforatable ride if you like, not really how comforatable that is tho.

The bouncyness really comes once you excede the damping capacity of the shock. On AGXs the consensus seems to be that above 5Kg/mm Springs the Shocks cant control the springs and the shock will wear very quickly.

Most Springs are within the ability of the AGXs but "race" springs (RSR Race for example) will have the higher spring rates.
